Thursday

For this Thursday I would say it was a very, very long day. At least 30 hrs. or more long. I told Doug while eating supper that I have written on past blogs that the energy bucket had a hole.  Well, while eating I said the energy bucket had lost it's bottom. But I can add it was a very good day even with a bottomless bucket.

So, what are the details.  Here they come!

The morning dawned as usual.  Breakfast happened and I knitted for about 10 minutes.  Then it was off to Lowes to purchase 4 beautiful white poinsettia plants for Christmas Eve and the two Sundays of Christmas Tide.  I really thought they might be all gone but NO!  Right where I thought they would be.  They were loaded into the car.  It was back home adding the completed PURPLE preacher robes and the cookies to the transport, meaning car for those coming to see the nativities.

So, with a little break time, the car headed south to church again. All was unloaded and just in time to meet the first group of visitors.  We were busy from 10 to after 1 with groups coming during that time.  There was a lot of introductions concerning the nativities with a bit of history telling how the DeLong family gifted us with many sets. More have been added over the years leading to the 220 sets throughout the church.

It was a busy day with a LOT of walking and talking.  The church is large, and I should have had a step recorder.  The only thing I know for sure is where my hips were to be found come the afternoon hours.  It was great to offer this event to folks hearing about this event from many sources.  Our office Linda is a pro about getting the word out to many venues that also shared the invitation with even more folks.  There were words of thanks for the event, some wanting to come back next year with bigger groups of friends.

So, after the poinsettias were given their ice cube treats that should hold them until we see them again on Sunday, the advent candles receiving new votives ready for Sunday, the treats tucked away, and the lights turned off and bills turned in, I was on my way north toward home.

It was then I realized that walking wasn't so easy as when I arrived at church.  I wanted to stop at Patty's to get some stole ribbon, but she wasn't home.  That was a gift with rebellious hips.  I knew the cupboard was bare so after eating lunch and a bit of a rest Doug, my cart pusher, bill payer, grocery and cupboard packer and I were off to Aldi's. Another longer than usual chair sitting happened after completing my job, the refrigerator restocking. Soup and crackers were supper again and after blog writing I'll once again be in the chair, this time viewing the Pacers.  I'm wishing with all eyes, fingers and toes crossed that there will be a win tonight.

I told Doug I was really looking forward to tomorrow because my body should be happier by then.  Don't you agree?  I will keep this day in mind if indeed there is another nativity open house next year. I hope that can be arranged.  I feel that it is a great honor given to North parishioners when we can share our worship spaces with others.  We are blessed by the vision of those who dreamed and provided for us a beautiful place dedicated to the worship of our Lord particularly during this season honoring his birth.
