Monday

Picture from my Kathy friend.  This is why we like to watch birds.  Always something interesting.

Today, I tackled something I have been putting off in the garden.  I ran out of other things to do and this one came to the top like heavy cream.  Maybe it was sour cream by the time I got to it.

I never get tired of looking at these each year.

You have heard me write about creeping Charlie.  Then there is creeping Jenny and there is another creeping something that I can't remember the name.  Charlie is around but under control in the garden.  Well, at least so far this year.  C Jenny is way out of control.  I think the early spring helped that along.  I love Jenny when nothing much else is up.  She is a pretty green.  And then she goes crazy.  I stopped at Rosie's this morning and heard that she may go on the not to be sold any more list.  Invasive to say the least just like those awful pear trees..

So I started out with the shovel and dug Jenny ending up with a garden cart full for deposit in the B Blue for the B B Truck on Wednesday.  Woo.  My hips were screaming when I stopped. I found good stuff completely covered up and out of sight. I moved some Hosta plants and there is more to move.  They have grown large over the years, completely hidden by Jenny when I've had time to look.

If you see dirt, that's where Jenny was living.  There is a little air around all the more important things.

Preen will be spread to stop germination of Jenny seeds already in the ground and there will be room for small annual zinnia plants when the weather gets warmer.  A little color other than green!

Your chance to meet C. Jenny.  Beautiful but such a pest!

I spent about an hour at Living Strong with friends.  I found that Iva was almost a neighbor living in the  addition beside ours.  I've walked her street.  Surprise, surprise. On the way home I made the Rosie stop looking for Swamp Milkweed.  The arrival day is Friday. I shopped some Dahlia roots but brought nothing home. I must call my Kathy friend for more information.

Weigelia just starting to bloom. This bush is 50 years old.

This afternoon I tackled the second job.  That was shoveling out more Jenny and moving Lambs Ear to the edge of the second bed making room for more Dahlias.  I watered the movers well and anticipated an afternoon shower to help out. The approaching clouds kept me moving toward the back door.

The afternoon job.  Not as big but still important for a Dahlia flowerbed.                             I heard tonight that I can have as many Dahlias as I would like. Do I need a bigger bed?  Maybe.

There was TV with a long unexpected sleep that was a welcomed surprise.  I'll take a snooze anytime.

The Carolina Wrens are back. Some winters they hang around.

The other plants new to the garden added yesterday look fine.  I'll add some pot marigolds which are also in the herb family with editable flowers.  They take a little work needing to be deadheaded to bloom, flowers stopping if that isn't part of their care. They will start from seeds.

It was a good day with good friends, good rain, good exercise, good sore hips resulting from good hard work and just good everything.
