Saturday
It was a busy day with a lot to show for it. Well, maybe a lot for a lady approaching old age but not quite there yet, some would say. Not many but I'm counting on the not many some who would say. I was out and about but waited until much of the dew was off the grass. I hate wet feet if waiting will help.
I grabbed the little rake and started on a couple of beds that had been hammered by the rain. They needed to breath again and they did. What a relief for me to see all the tiny little green things that were emerging disappear. Weeds?
Then it was moving on to finishing the mulching. Not one of my favorite things when the mulch was wet covering my hands and arms with a black coating. I washed my hands and forgot all about my arms. Uck! But that job is finished for now. What mulch is left will go in the garden path. There is always a place.
The path is finished for now. Let's hope the mulch stays where I put it. It will be interesting to see how time makes changes to the plants located among the stones. That was the morning work. Lunch happened and break time was the next big event.
You know we have this cute little pond that Noah dug for us years ago. Every year I insert the liner in the one of a kind hole we cover every winter protecting it from falling into its self. This year it was the same, inserting the liner, filling it with water and purchasing plants from Rosie. Well, as sometimes happens it needed to happen all over again. The rain filled it to overflowing more than once with a lot of dirt mixing with the pond water. Then the deer came along and chewed up the plants to almost nothing but leaving the left overs in the pond. The bubbler wasn't working like it should. Today that all changed when starting all over again with emptying the pond, scrubbing the liner, refilling and then a trip to Rosie's this time buying the plants we had last year which the deer left alone. The bubbler is working better especially when we have more sun. Currently a screen is a cover for night time. One repeat is enough for me.
Clear and Clean. Another good start for the summer. I hope it's the last one.I planted two more Dahlias and there are a few more things to move to a bed. I visited a bit with Gina across the street. She was out and about finding more stepping stones for one of her flower beds. She is really good at finds.
This little guy and his buddy have a ways to go. I think I'll see great things before frost.I did a little watering and dusting plants. The chair felt like home again and tonight another basketball game. Go Oklahoma. The winner tonight will go on to the final series playing the Nicks. It's almost over.
Tomorrow is a first day of the week thing with church. The Carmel Marathon happens in the morning and we will need to pick our way out of the addition carefully. The hard part is remembering there is a race. The picking part will be easy.
