The fourth!

This morning I felt sorry for the tomatoes.  So...water came their way as well as the Mexican Sunflowers and the other Sunflowers.  The last two were really malingering.  Poor things.  I have got to do a better job.  My excuse, good or bad in nature is they are far from the hose.  But with two gal. of water in each hand I managed to give them a great drink.  It should last for a while.  The Dahlias were refreshed as well and that was pretty much the watering story. I did forget the cucumbers who need a lot of water to make cucumbers.  I fixed that in the evening.

Ms. Tipsy.  For having a name like that I think she's doing well.                                                          The more one cuts the more flowers appear.  She'll be removed tomorrow.

Today's morning involved getting rid of ugly bug eaten leaves.  The Holly Hocks are always the worst although I added a few other things to the pile of throw outs.  It's their nature to have bad looking leaves being bug loved along with rust.  The plants by the patio are beginning to produce flowers while those at the arbor are on their way to making seeds.

The first pink flower will open tomorrow. It's rather low in the picture.

I moved some heavy pots on the patio and now the garden flowers can be seen while I sit.  A few snips happened to a few flowers but the last half of the morning was just coffee and enjoying the view that goes with celebrating a holiday.  Nothing is in our holiday plans. Just the view.  Doug told me a very long time ago like maybe 58 years ago that his plan for holidays was to stay home away from road traffic.  That's the deal I can live with comfortably.

More pink, not planned, just happened.

Soccer games covered the afternoon with temperatures being a bit easier on the body.  Woo.  I'm ready for that.  But my TV remote quite working.  That's horrible news which once happened about 10 years ago.  We tried new batteries...Nothing.  The hope is that Doug's remote will work on my TV.  That has been yet to be tried.  I guess a TV remote glitch  this Saturday is better than a hospital stay starting last Saturday.

A view from the patio.  The State Fair Zinnias will be coming on strong soon.

I must admit that nights have been very comfortable and I'm grateful for that.  Just give me 32 ounces of crushed ice during the day and that gets me through.

The two hibiscus  are getting ready to put on a show.  This one, full of buds gives us dark red flowers.                                             They look bug eaten in the picture but they are not.                                                                    Their leaves are rather bumpy and rough and very dark. There might be tea.

It's been a good 4th.  Tomorrow is church.  This Sunday will be a bit different at North but should be interesting.  Both of our ministers have Covid.  The choir director is at a conference. The organist is on vacation.  A staff member Brandon will take the lead and a minister from St. Luke's will preach.  Communion...that's unknowable at this time. The music will go on with planned fill in folks knowing ahead of time music vacancy's.  We have an abundance of capable choir folks. Past choir directors and organists in other churches are members of our choir. One might say it could be like going to a new church in our own church.

So it's back to the late afternoon soccer game.  The evening game...need a working remote or a visit with Doug and his TV. It's up for grabs at this point.
