Thursday

Could the heat be a problem naming the day correctly?  Maybe.  I wouldn't be surprised.

The canna are looking good stretching up tall and straight.

Another day to do what needs doing.  Another day for soccer.  Last night's USA game was a dozy.  Those boys just kept on going no matter what.  That's what a winner does.  And now we're on to more soccer today.

And as usual the day had a beginning again.  I can always depend on that.  There was a very slow breakfast on the patio,  What was watered yesterday looked pretty good.  And what wasn't seemed to be O K.  I made that decision because I just didn't want to pull the hose out.  I did a little bucket watering but not much.  Tonight the peppers seem to be asking for a drink for sure.

The deer made a stop here last night and dined on day lilies.  The garden cart left the garage and we were on the way to do a whole lot of snipping.  The cart was filled twice with donations from a lot of places.  I mentioned a few days ago that I hate to see leaning Hosta flowers.  The Hosta across the front of the house are many and they produce many, many flowers.  So out came Stella who provided seating while I snipped away.  I've found a few ways to make gardening jobs easier than perhaps 10 years ago. A few other things got a "hair" cut and I would say we're set in some spots till the fall clean up.

I would say, nice and neat.  Others might not agree.  The 2026 Hosta snipping is over and done.

I found tiny little cucumbers accepting the challenge to grow bigger.  One of the cabbage heads is turning from a darker growing green to a very light green which means it will be ready to cut very soon.

One cabbage head in the refrigerator along with a pepper.  I think the bunny messed up another one.

I decided the Dahlias are big enough with the tasty part off the bunny menu having grown into big leaves that are not so tasty. I still see the bunnies sitting in the middle of the clover patches.  While cleaning up in the herb garden I found the birthing nest right under the sweet peas.

I found a depression in the ground filled with a lot of grass, all hidden under the sweet peas.

A COLD shower ended the morning work.  Lunch happened along with another very good sleep time and then it was afternoon soccer.  I fixed a big lemonade drink.  Then adding a fan to the environment  was all I needed.

Supper was later again with a salad for Doug and a good protein drink with some added fruit for me with thoughts of the pancreas keeping me in line. I would add, so far so good.  I moving to success hopefully.

In the evening there was water for the pepper plants and a few other things, all leading to another cold shower.  We're nearing the end of the heat but not soon enough in some instances.  Next week should be a piece of cake.
