Leslie'sbeautiful Hollyhocks
Saturday
This morning is no different than any other morning. Breakfast with family and lots of talk. Both families left at one o’clock to head on down to Bumble Town to see Dennis and Leslie Sotalis. Dennis, a friend of at least 40 years and the potter that has inspired Jared and Kimmy to try their hand throwing pottery successfully.
A little budda sitting among the rocks.
It was a great reunion with a small side trip to a neighbor’s yard, a garden of great interest. So many surprises and evidence that this gardener loves what she does. Pictures will certainly show that in so many ways. It truly was enjoyable to walk beside many beds of blooming flowers, showing that gardening was a hobby for many years.
The garden site is a beautiful hill with large outcroppings of rock that is the backbone that forms the Keweenaw Peninsula. Most of the year the UP of Michigan provides a white
environment. Color is a welcomed treat
and because the growing season is short the color comes almost instantly and
all at once with an abundance of cheer in the garden.
Drinks and cookies were a part of the afternoon and motoring
back to Copper Harbor allowed us to have a good supper of salad and smoked salmon and another evening
around the campfire which was undoubtedly enjoyed because of the cooler
weather.
