This little guy always has a smile.  It's just what I needed to see today.  Dear St. Anthony, please come around Lela's purse is missing and cannot be found.  More about that later! I could also add the name Lela and her horrible, no good, very bad day.  Some days are like that... So the day started out with the usuals and knitting for a spell, then off to pick up Noah and and off to church we went for Noah's morning at soup kitchen and bell work and my morning starting to do a few Christmas things among other things.  There are always other things.                One of the last.  I'll be digging soon.  The paper bags are ready for dahlia tubers for storing                          over the winter.  I'm ...

A few blooms are hanging on. Today was a gang buster day when it came to burps.  The hammer came down and now there are seventy burps in the container. I started the day with 10.  I'm ALL out of flannel so until I find some everything is on hold.  I've used up every little scrap left over from some other burp project.  Ginny should have plenty but something started needs to end up finished.  Tomorrow on my way home from church I hope to remember to look at other stores that usually come through.  The usual places are not stocked with flannel sheets.                          ...

Today was a simple day.  It reminds me of sing me a simple song.  Just thinking...I don't hear the word simple used very often.  We usually have days filled and crammed full of things to do.  So, having a simple describe the day should be included with those days that are not so simple.  Sounds healthy to me.                                                           A s upper treat for the eyes! The colors are perfect. Simple started with a great wake up, breakfast and then a bit of knitting.  Not much but just a bit.  After that I started working on the 50 some burps that were torn yesterday and ready for the first sew around on the machine.  Then came the trimming and turning from inside to outside.  On to the ironing board and then the last sewing.  Folding...

Today started pretty easy.  Then it got really hard and back to easy but with a very tired body!                                                                                    So pretty in the late afternoon sun. .   The weather could not have been better.  A perfect fall day with a great warm up with low humidity.  Just a perfect gift for October.  I ran out of yarn last night at the wrong place when knitting a scarf.  I tried some solutions but tore them out.  It just didn't work so that scarf is on the wait list.                   Still to get cut.  If I wait till January it will be dry and all over the yard.  Just a big mess...

Sunday

Image
I would call this a slow down Sunday.                                                                                                       Still here! The morning started with frost but like most firsts but not all frosts, the white stuff stayed at the bottom of the hill in all the spots that I would say are lower than the house.  So the patio garden was saved as well as all the other gardens although most of them have been cleared of flowers.  But all of the flowers mentioned days ago are still with us.  This week will see warmer days back with us again.  So it's easy breathing time again to enjoy some color in the garden.   Another good night o...

Saturday

All the good zinnias, plus a few other things.    I woke up after a great night of sleep.  I added an extra spread to the bed and was pleasantly warm.  That was until I got out of bed.  Brrrr.  The house was cold.  I let Doug determine when the furnace comes on and when he got up he went directly to the thermostat.  We had heat. I spent some of the morning turning the bed from summer to winter with the wool blanket added as well as the flower garden quilt.  I need flowers year around. Doug's long term B 12 issues and now my lazy Thyroid  might say electric blanket if the wool blanket is not enough.  I hope not.    I moved to another fall job digging through all three drawers where my stash of summer an...

Friday

It's been a cloudy, gloomy, chilly day.  A harbinger of winter I would say.  I'm sure there will be more to come sprinkled in between the exact opposite sort of day.  So one could say...get use to it.  There will be more like any other fall or winter day we've lived through other years.   I really had a great night of sleep waking up around 8.  There was breakfast and knitting.  I knew I had to make another trip to I U North so I checked my iPhone for the time.  Gee Wizz.  It was an 8:30 appointment and the clock said 8:26 already.  So you can imagine I was on my way immediately not even turning off the TV.  All the round abouts worked their magic.  The car filled Keystone drivers were even helpful.  And I arrived at 8:44.  Woo. That was amazing to say the least.  I did 40 in a 35 zone just like everyone else.                        ...

Thursday

Image
Another Thursday.  They just keep coming and that's fine with me.  At the beginning of the week it became apparent to me that there was something to do elsewhere every day of this week.  Yes, some weeks are like that even in Australia as Alexander would say.  Today was to be a morning with Noah at Bread and Bowl at North.  Well, last night I discovered it will be next Thursday.  Woo.  was I happy about that?  You bet.  Today was mine all day doing what I wanted to do all of it at home.  Well, almost.  I finished the last 10 burps so the next 100 burps are ready for the trip to Ginny.  I spent some time putting thread and more where they really belonged in the sewing room. Some fabric was trimmed and deposited in the recycle container.  So a few things like that just make where I work and what I'm looking at a little more pleasing and organized.  I would add, ready to mess up again at some point.  That took ...

The morning went as usual.  Turning, ironing and then sewing burps.  I finished 10 burps thinking the other 20g would happen in the afternoon.  That was a joke.  Way to busy to get back to the machine.  The morning really started with a note to Darren about the weekend events.  Just what I thought including pros and cons.  I knew that was coming so I got her' done asap..   We made a necessary trip to Aldi's with a record paid at the cash register.  Yikes, what would it have cost at Krogers.  It's sort of scary.  After all was stashed away at home I made another cookie sheet of croutons and some delicious broccoli soup that should take care of us for a few days of food. Planning ahead is the trick.  At three there was another PT session.  Every day my pinched nerve and affected muscles are a bit better.  The goal is to just keep on doing what I've been doing plus getting my head to turn to the left.  Th...

For what ever reason you might choose, I manages to fill up the day with some of this and that.  The day started a bit later than usual.  I can't remember when I slept till 8 am.  Woo.  that's some sort of a record for me. I guess I needed that still recuperating from the weekend.   I was off to church to do the final clean up from that weekend!  We usually work in the morning but I forgot I told Heidi we could do afternoon for today at her request.  So what needed to be done got done with the sanctuary and chapel ready for next Sunday by me.  That's what an empty head causes.  A morning by myself which wasn't really bad, come to think of it.  Darren stopped by with a few questions  taking care of all the blue water for me.  That's a yeoman's job.                 Beautiful orange ceramic flowers gifted to me last night.  They are perfect in all ways. I was home b...

Monday

Image
There was a lot of Dahlia snipping this morning with three vases loaded with flowers.  It makes my day. After a busy weekend I welcomed a not  so busy Monday but it turned out to be sort of busy anyway.  It was time for my monthly blood work to determine if my body was ready for another month of cancer medication.  If the numbers were not so good, I would need to wait another week for body recuperation before back on meds.  If I passed the test, I could get started on the meds for the next three weeks.  So off to I U North I went discovering there was no order from the doctor.  Now this trip was around 7:30 when the whole world was going to work in Indianapolis.  Woo.  Traffic was scary.  But I made it to the hospital only to return home...call the doctor to get an order and then right back to the hospital again through traffic and construction detours.  It took patience to do what I needed to do and eventually around 10:00 I...

Sunday

Another busy day with all day church.  It was worthwhile. Of course it started with some sewing machine stuff.  There are 50 new burps in the bin.  Yesterday I unloaded another 100 on to Ginny's porch.  So, we're well on the way to another 100.  This next one hundred will make a total of 500 this fall if my head is screwed on right.  Sometimes there are leaks.  Ginny gave me permission to slow down for a while.  I'll let that happen at the end of 500 needing that last bed sheet to reach that number.   Then off to church for another good day with church folks.  Remember your Baptism was the theme for the morning and all went well.                                                                            ...

Saturday

Image
This will be a short entry tonight.  The day has been very interesting but after being at church from 9:30 till 8:00 I'm a bit beat.  So here is the truth.   The day was set aside as a part of the Renew and Rejoice Weekend.  It continues tomorrow morning and afternoon so that makes it a weekend.  Darren is finishing up the latest series of sermons on Relentless Grace.  All of this plus many other things has been a path to a doctoral degree.  He felt the need to be refreshed in his ministry and after looking at options, he was most interested in studies that led to a doctorate degree.  So he jumped in and is soon ready to wrap that degree up.   It was a very good church day with renewal activities planned for the congregates.  The leadership was excellent and very spiritually rewarding.   We learned about how he planned his degree process with focus groups as well as other ways to learn about the church he serves...

Friday

Dahlias still showing their best side. I see some tired leaves. The morning was all about burps.  There were seventy to work on.  The next thirty needed a sheet for backing.  So the machine did the first sew around and then the scissors did the trimming.  The fabric scraps were deposited in the recycling bin.  Turning the right side to the outside was the next thing that needed to happen. I declared a break time.  But after the break...all seventy were turned ready for the iron.  Then more sewing and folding.  Woo...finishing is on the way.                Volunteer Cherry Tomatoes available for the picking.  I'm over tomatoes for this year.                ...

Another interesting day with a lot of variety.  Super good sleep with wake ups but back to sleep without an hour or more long break.  That's just fine.  I watched a little Joe with the thought I need to make better use of my time. No new news seemed to be the order of the day. So I gave thirty burps their first go around on the sewing machine.  The machine told me it needed a break so I was off to church for a morning of finishing up for the weekend.   It was Heidi, Laurel and I this morning.  Many loose ends got woven into the baptismal workshop on Saturday and Sunday.  I would say all is well and ready.  Darren ask that we be observers during both days so it seems I'll be a church lady on the weekend.   I left church at 12:30 and headed to H H for another skein of yarn. Knitting Saturday and Sunday afternoon will be a filler for me.   Then back home for lunch with the afternoon agenda being soup making  and of...

Wednesday

Image
Kimmy's sister Viki gave us this pot.  It's filled to the brim with plants started in the spring. At this house Wednesday is big blue truck day, lawn mowing day and today Doug is working on some signs for church baptism displays and I'm into burps and garden clearing.                  Soral.  Something to add to a salad. The red and green are so pretty in the evening sun..  So here goes the details.  We had two b blues to contribute lawn stuff to the landfill this morning.  I thought there would be more but other stuff happened and there were only two containers to contribute.  But the garden clearing this afternoon already has one BB stuffed for next week. These contributions have been made for years. New tools make it a bit easier to complete the job.  The artemisia is gone, the tomato stalks, and more verbena are gone.  The tomato plants h...
