Sunday
I would call this a slow down Sunday.
Still here! The morning started with frost but like most firsts but not all frosts, the white stuff stayed at the bottom of the hill in all the spots that I would say are lower than the house. So the patio garden was saved as well as all the other gardens although most of them have been cleared of flowers. But all of the flowers mentioned days ago are still with us. This week will see warmer days back with us again. So it's easy breathing time again to enjoy some color in the garden.
Another good night of rest. Thanks be to God! I can tell it makes a world of difference when a long rest comes to this body. Another church day of course with Doug just making it out the door in time for us to leave when we usually do. Candles that I brought home a few days ago were fixed and ready to return to church for use. There is usually something of that nature to carry to 38th street almost every Sunday. Today it was rejuvenated candles.
Jill preached a great sermon taking Paul's letter to the church at Thessalonica and changing that letter as a letter from Paul to the church at 38th and Meridian. It was an interesting twist, outlining what is happening at North as Paul might have written to us as well as words of encouragement to carry on.
Still here!
After church Heidi and I put together dates for work times at North. A lot of things are continuing to happen later in October, November and then December for the Visual Arts folks. It's important planning ahead time. Heidi will be gone for part of that time so that makes it even more important.
We delivered one arrangement of altar flowers to the Schillings honoring Bob's 93rd birthday as well as 41 years as organist and choir director at North. The second altar arrangement was donated to Random Acts. a local organization working on Monday through Wednesday delivering donated flowers to those hospitalized needing an act of kindness in a time of need. It's a wonderful way of recycling flowers that could make a difference in someone's life. Some of our parishioners have worked for that organization in that past.
The afternoon was given to the Colts. And that turned out not be so good if one thinks of wins or losses. But the quiet time it brought was time well spent. From frost temperatures in the morning to the afternoon of sun and warmer temperatures one could not ask for more especially so late in October.
More football is on the way and the needles are working although at a very slow pace. It's Sunday, a day of rest I usually have trouble observing. But not today. Go figure!
