Thursday and Friday
Thursday!
Breakfast for two this time and not for seven. 1 cup of pancake mix instead of 4cups. Just a little change in the breakfast
effort. But the place has not
changed. Crisp air and blue sky. It’s still Copper Harbor for us.
I checked for a Jared text and they arrived home after 11
last night. The wait at the bridge was 4
hours. One thing that happens for us every year and now happened for Jared is
that being away for two weeks always provides garden surprises. They had big ones in the flowerbeds with
pictures shared.
Construction at the bridge should be finished by the time we
pass over it on our way to Jared’s when reservations run out here.
The day included more rock collecting with 5 more larger
ones chosen as well as a bucket of smaller rocks from the beach as well as
another bucket from Hunter’s Point.
These two buckets are entirely different in looks. Rocks are like that in the U P. There are so
many different kinds of rocks.
I’ve followed a blog for years written by a mother here in
Copper Harbor who has a Downs little boy.
He is six now. A huge gift to me
was finding him with a friend picking Thimbleberries at Hunter Point. What a gift to visit with a care giver and
Brady for a few minutes. Raising a child
with a small community of friends helping along the way found here in Copper
Harbor has been a great gift to Brady and his mother.
Another book has been started. Time was spent in the chair with the sun’s
warmth evident and needed. The breeze
was evident today with the lake showing many white caps. A stop at the bakery told me that scones need
to be purchased before 9 am or they will be gone. I’ll try earlier tomorrow.
Friday
A cool to close to cold day.
It reached 60 by noon and didn’t go much farther.
Mid-morning, we tried again the trip to the Jam Pot to see
the monks. This time it was successful
although because we did the trip early in the day the baked goods were limited
to one kind of cookie and cupcake.
Chocolate chip cookies and a Carrot Cupcake found its way into our
possessions. We added a jar of
Thimbleberry Jam made only yesterday.
We had lunch and discussed the coming weather predicted for
Sunday meaning that rain would cause us to pack up wet. It is not a pleasant experience.
I did some iPhone checks, some map checks. While doing that Judy and Gary arrived. Another great pair of friends what we have
known over the years. Lots and lots of
talk with a whole bunch of laughs. We
discussed stockade fencing around the fort and Judy and I made a run to see
what stockade fencing will be going home with us. I’m really pumped about this latest souvenir
that will find it’s way into the garden.
The evening once again included the 3/13 card game. The decision has been made and we will leave a day early to avoid a rainy Sunday of packing. We’ll pack up the dining things Saturday and then with some luck leave early Sunday morning after the tent comes down before the rain with an overnight stop at Jared’s farm to see the garden and Jared, Kimmy and Jacob. Adam and Eli are with their other set of grandparents camping
