Monday

Almost the same old same old but not quite. No paper the day after Christmas and the day after New Year's Day is the rule for the company.  That means no crossword. Wordle?.I was a day late and a dollar short on this one. I hate it when I get only 2 letters with my clue words one being an e at the end of the word.  I think that really is no clue.

I watched the rude starlings and finally brought in the suet.  It's so rude when they jump on each other while at the suet pushing each other to the ground.  Eliminating suet helps for a while even after returning the suet to the shepherd's crooks after a couple of hours.

This little guy is always on his best behavior dressed in his Sunday go-to Meetin' clothes.

I made a little meatloaf from ground beef I thawed a couple of days ago along with baking some chicken that will find its way into a shepherd's pie later in the week.  There are so many options for a meal in the refrigerator.  I would say one of the best ones is last night's ham bone which will go into some split pea soup.  We're eating well.
Meet loaf, hot or cold always tasting good.

I texted Heidi about doing a big cleanup job at church before the weekend.  Some pipes have burst in the community room.  We're waiting to see when the church will be open to simplifying the chancel area in the sanctuary.  Two busy church seasons are Christmas and Easter.  By far Advent and Christmas Tide seems to be more than twice as busy as Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and Easter for the Visual Arts folks.  Work, work!

Late afternoon brought a whole lot of friends back to the feeder.  All on their best behavior. The Starlings seemed to be working off a time out not in our yard.

The sun was taking a rest this afternoon allowing the red in this house finch to not be so showy.  They are plentiful in number and deserve to find themselves on this blog for the first time.

The weather seems to be moderating.  Thank goodness for that gift.  By Friday the snow may all be gone with 50-degree weather along with rain expected.  Having temperatures that could include the possibility of falling is something I wish to avoid.

Tonight's supper will be chili sent over from the neighbors.  It's full of stuff that sort of eliminates the word soup. A sneaky spice of cloves tames down the sharp tomato taste.  Not much happening tonight unless there's a football game.  I've got to ask Seri about that question.  Woo.  The Colts face the Chargers at 8 pm!  I've got to watch that!.  Thanks Seri!

  1. it is warming up here - 31 degrees at 4 am. A heat wave! And at 8:00 we had a dusting of real snow! We could see it only on the walk ways and on the asphalt road.
