Monday

 Today was not like yesterday.  There are miles to go today and things to do today.  My kind of day for sure.    I'm adding a few more nativity pictures to the post today.  I could probably do this to July before there would be a repeat nativity set.  


I made it to the grocery store and did a whole lot of damage.  My eyes got a little big at the bill and I thought Aldi's?  Even at Aldi's, I was in for a big surprise.  So we will eat again for a while.  Doug always meets me at the door when there are lots of bags to carry in and put away.  He chooses to never darken the door of a grocery store.  Something makes me think he's noisy about what he will be eating.  This guy will eat just about anything I cook.  And what he won't eat I don't cook.  Humm...those were a couple of interesting sentences you just read.  


Soon after the grocery job was finished I was off to church stopping at Rita's for clambs that she labeled.  I think we are done with that job for perhaps another month.  Well at least for a while.  


When arriving at church I unloaded the car.  Talked for a little while and then headed to the sanctuary to do a bit of rearranging in the chancel area for next Sunday's service.  I ice-cubed the poinsettia plants.  They are looking pretty good but I'm thinking of adding to them for next Sunday's service.  It's time to buy white ones for Christmas Eve.

This coming Sunday is the Mary Sunday with the Magnificat among other things. Darren's sermon is about Mary on the fourth Sunday so it would seem we are having two Mary Sundays this year. Many, many years ago Doris Douglas made a life-size Mary which left the attic this year. Today she moved to the narthex and got a little do-over.  We'll keep her there until the new year.  She is pretty fragile and this may be her last year to appear.  



                            Mary is holding Jesus so I needed to cover him up until Christmas Eve. 

Tonight for supper we collected Bob and then it was off to McAalisters to eat. About 15 other North members who live somewhere on the north side of Indy were in attendance.  There was no program.  It's a few hours with other folks who hold North Church near and dear to them.  Two members were small children attending with their parents and are now in their 80s.  Others were not quite that old with shorter memberships and some with very few years of North membership.  It's a wonderful group of folks that gather once a month building community once again.




Monday night football and then it was off to bed.

Red sails in the morning, Sailors take warning.   The warning sign was miss thinking about a wonderful day with a gorgeous sunrise, but it turned into anything but wonderful. And after yesterday's blog entry, what was hoped to be a good week had a dismal beginning.  Jared called to tell us that Sunday evening Wyatt, their beautiful red poodle stopped eating and by three in the morning of Monday as Jared was driving to Lancing to the Vet at Michigan State, Wyatt died.  Wyatt was one wonderful dog in every sense of the word.  Smart, friendly, protective with absolute understanding about so many things.  Today and the days ahead will be days of mourning eventually becoming times of reflections about all the good that Wyatt brought to us.  His camping chair is now sitting in our living room reminding us of that goodness he gifted us.  After hearing about this event, I took a walk outside to clear my head and heart and found the first of many crocus bl...

 This morning...nothing different.  Cards and Pancakes with no rain and none promised.  That could change but so what.  A little rain never has stopped us from doing.   The first big bottle of syrup and the first bag of pancake mix is gone but there is more stashed away.  We never run out of breakfast fixings.  The second book is well on the way. I think it's the same for Doug.  I spent the afternoon with Natasha sitting on the deck and visiting with her mother Dorthy.  She is a great storyteller.  Natasha's dad is our potter friend Dennis.  Natasha is also a potter among many other things.  This is a picture of the shop.  A large deck behind the deck is a sweet place to visit and make new friends.   Today our church friends Jeanie and Neal arrived.  They will be here for 3 nights.  We'll do a little visiting later around the Jared Russell campfire giving them some ideas of what they might like to ...

 It's 7 PM and 66 degrees maybe with a breeze off the lake.  Changed to long pants and a better jacket.  It's cloudy right now with a chance of rain tonight.  Most rains are not predicted so it's maybe yes and maybe no.  So what was today like.  Check what was posted for yesterday with  kayaking deleted. Read, slept, walked and played cards once again.  We had icecream at the Fort Store.  That was a first.   We played a couple of games of Kubb.  It's a great yard game that one can become proficient in quickly.  The WiFi is really slow for picture up loads so one will need to do.   Tonight the JB family will begin packing for home.  The camp kitchen will come down and tomorrow morning the tent will be next.  The hope is that they will leave the campground no later than 10 after their last pancake breakfast at our dining fly.  It's always a sad time but the plan is to do this all over again next year...
