Sunday

 Easy Sunday morning after a short night.  We left for church around 10.  It's about a 20-minute drive on most Sundays.  Aith anticipationrriving at church I remembered to be first in the sanctuary to pick the pew that best fits my hearing aides.  Doug will choose the back third.  I will choose the front third.  It was the latter this morning.  Heidi joined us along with some good choir members who no longer are singing with the choir.  Friends forever.  Great music with the children and their dads singing Mary Did You Know. I love the words...when you kissed your little baby, you kissed the face of God.  It was a great worship-filled service.

After church, I had many questions needing answers regarding the four services next Sunday.  There will be one at 11 themed as the fourth Sunday in Advent and then three Christmas Eve evening services.  All are different.  The 5 O'clock service includes our children in leadership roles  The seven o'clock service is a communion candle service and the 11 is one of music and candles.  It took some time to pry people loose from their own responsibilities this morning to get answers.  But time wasn't against us and I think this week we will see resetting of the sanctuary again getting what's needed in place for the first service making the next three a little easier. It's sort of the same thing every year so there are never many surprises that I say are really big surprises.  Just get ready for a few twists and turns.

I watched a little football and a large candle that I forgot at church and needed tweaking, came home with Andrew and Noah after their church rehearsal.  It got its tweak and I took it back to church in the afternoon. 

Every year there is a wonderful service called the Longest Night Service.  That was at 5 PM. today. It's a very meditative, reflective, and quiet service with an attempt to bring a bit of balance to the season. A good service to block out all the hubbub that seems to sneak into our lives.

The evening saw more football and time to think about the needs of the coming week.  It will include Eric's trip to the bus stop with at least one trip of the boys to school on Tuesday. Kat will have a PT session early on Tuesday.  It takes a village for sure these days. 


And I only took two pictures all day.  Dah.  The Longest Night service would have had some interesting snapshots.  I've got to do better.

Red sails in the morning, Sailors take warning.   The warning sign was miss thinking about a wonderful day with a gorgeous sunrise, but it turned into anything but wonderful. And after yesterday's blog entry, what was hoped to be a good week had a dismal beginning.  Jared called to tell us that Sunday evening Wyatt, their beautiful red poodle stopped eating and by three in the morning of Monday as Jared was driving to Lancing to the Vet at Michigan State, Wyatt died.  Wyatt was one wonderful dog in every sense of the word.  Smart, friendly, protective with absolute understanding about so many things.  Today and the days ahead will be days of mourning eventually becoming times of reflections about all the good that Wyatt brought to us.  His camping chair is now sitting in our living room reminding us of that goodness he gifted us.  After hearing about this event, I took a walk outside to clear my head and heart and found the first of many crocus bl...

 It's 7 PM and 66 degrees maybe with a breeze off the lake.  Changed to long pants and a better jacket.  It's cloudy right now with a chance of rain tonight.  Most rains are not predicted so it's maybe yes and maybe no.  So what was today like.  Check what was posted for yesterday with  kayaking deleted. Read, slept, walked and played cards once again.  We had icecream at the Fort Store.  That was a first.   We played a couple of games of Kubb.  It's a great yard game that one can become proficient in quickly.  The WiFi is really slow for picture up loads so one will need to do.   Tonight the JB family will begin packing for home.  The camp kitchen will come down and tomorrow morning the tent will be next.  The hope is that they will leave the campground no later than 10 after their last pancake breakfast at our dining fly.  It's always a sad time but the plan is to do this all over again next year...

3 plus 1 = Jared...Dee.

 This morning...nothing different.  Cards and Pancakes with no rain and none promised.  That could change but so what.  A little rain never has stopped us from doing.   The first big bottle of syrup and the first bag of pancake mix is gone but there is more stashed away.  We never run out of breakfast fixings.  The second book is well on the way. I think it's the same for Doug.  I spent the afternoon with Natasha sitting on the deck and visiting with her mother Dorthy.  She is a great storyteller.  Natasha's dad is our potter friend Dennis.  Natasha is also a potter among many other things.  This is a picture of the shop.  A large deck behind the deck is a sweet place to visit and make new friends.   Today our church friends Jeanie and Neal arrived.  They will be here for 3 nights.  We'll do a little visiting later around the Jared Russell campfire giving them some ideas of what they might like to ...
