Tuesday

By my count with the heat of the day starting Sunday, this is the third day.  It is stinky hot.  I did have a great night of sleep moving to the living room with the windows open, and the fan running.  I'll be there again tonight.

A new first timer for the 2025 year.

This morning there was great patio time. I thought the wrens were gone but by 9 when the parents stopped by with food, I knew that to not be the case.  Once again there were many fly ins with food and the baby talk was loud.

Because it was broken, I repurpose this bird feeder into a bird house.  These birds have stained glass walls.

I grabbed the little raking tool and worked on two short path beds I had missed.  Just a little more sprucing up.

This morning I saw one bunny. If the other three have relocated, I couldn't be happier.  I would say the yard was pretty quiet last night.  No big parties which is great.

Lucky me.  The first zinnia of the garden is orange.  It's tiny but that's just fine with me.

By 10 I called it quitting time.  Enough done and I was enough hot.  I filled my McAlister oversized plastic tumbler with ice and water and a little lemon.  That's one super refreshing drink.  Yesterday there were three of them.  The more the better is what I'm thinking.  Lunch came along around 11:30.

A new way to show off a big pot of plants.  The picnic table just wasn't working.  We'll see what happens here with night time parties.  One tiny Bicopa bloom needs to be protected.  The whole plant should be in bloom.  I'm crossing my fingers this works. We haven't barbecued in years.

The afternoon menu was sleeping, TV, iphone and gardening books  The H a H Trapps were reset more than once with the squirrels attempt to get to the peanuts without getting a trap.  One failed in his attempt.  The trap was very FULL of a very adult squirrel.  Doug made the trip.

                                                                  A great combination.

Supper was a lettuce salad with a dollop of egg salad.  A little bit goes a long ways, these hot days.

Fans, water and taking it easy makes my day pretty easy.  I can skip the canning that went with all of my child hood days.  Believe me, we kids were included in the process. It started with early apples and apple sauce, ending with tomatoes and everything else in between.  We ate well.
