Monday
Another good sleep. The body has forgiven me for all the Saturday abuse. Then came the morning stuff with all the list of to do's. I'm back on Kisqali. That's a very good thing. I did a short garden walk. Chased the bunny and decided that some things needed to go. So, the clippers did the deed. Piles are waiting for a pick up. It's all the better to see the hibiscus. They are the stars of the moment with the third plant ready soon to explode with blooms.
No. 2. So many buds. A sure thing we'll see more flowers.I put together a small flower arrangement and walked it to Kathy. And we sat for a while talking about everything. I would say a wonderful way to add to the start of the day.
While visiting we saw Gina on her dog walk with her coffee cup moving her morning along.
One of the beds lucky enough to have the dirt fluffed keeping down the weeds. The plants with no flowers at this point were bunny food. We still have a lot of summer so it's waiting time.I made a short list of food, like bacon and yogurt, and Doug and I were off to Aldi's. It would seem that Doug likes the grocery aisles. I was willing to do a solo trip, but Doug indicted he was finished with the paper and wanted to go. You could almost have blown me over with a feather. So, we did the Aldi thing getting us through till the weekend. Dog indicated black berries are almost ripe and wouldn't a black berry cobbler taste good. Well, I'm out of oil for the crust. I guess I could use butter! And I did.
Next time more berries. I picked berry that was ready.I had a bit of fun trying to find a recipe. Online, the recipe had ingredients but no amounts. In my cookbook the recipe used soda and vinegar. I didn't want that one either. I decided to make up my own recipe.
I spent some time in the kitchen. Now, during these latest hot days that's a bit unusual. The bacon is ready for BLTs. I made a cucumber salad. That's slices steeped in vinegar and sugar. That reminds me of home! Supper is in the refrigerator ready to be put together later. Putting a sweet and sour together is very German. That's my heritage.
Delicious BLT's. Yum, yum. This is a do over meal for sure.We had a nice rain this morning that cooled the neighborhood and I spent a little time with fluffing and pulling weeds. The temps have moderated a whole lot. I'll say the garden looks good even though I'm sharing it with some little creatures. My marigold seeds have yet to appear. Still waiting.
No. 3 A dinner plate size flower soon to be seen. We'll see white peddles with a large pink center. That is if my memory hasn't gotten lost again. This morning, I made a phone call to sign up for Living Strong. It's a program at the Y for folks experiencing Cancer. It's a 1 and 1/2-hour program 2 times a week with supportive discussion and exercise. Two of my church friends are in the 12-week program with the next session starting in September. I think the garden will give me enough exercise until then.
So the afternoon moved along, and supper was what one needed on a summer day. BLT's, a few Bugles, cucumber salad and a very rare desert of any kind...Black Berry upside down cake or something like that.
Now for the vacation news.
Off to another beach. I would say it's the same old same old. Eli and Jacob are off to hike the Estivant Pines trail. It's long but beautiful.
