Tuesday
It always happens. When I see yellow and blue together, I always think of Ukraine.
It was another good morning. I was up early at the usual hour. Yogurt with all the additives tasted great. TV was entertaining and the morning walk included finding the newspaper in the newspaper slot at the mailbox as it was in the olden days. Gina met me at the mailbox with her cup of coffee ready for her walk. I had my cup ready for the paper. And Wyland was very interested in my cup of coffee as well. What a big burly soft-hearted dog. So, we caught up on the news and we both were on our way. I will remember to get a picture of burly one of these days. He's a gentle giant.
A bud yesterday, a flower today and tomorrow it will be gone. Another will take its place. After the paper I walked the patio garden again finding a whole lot of weeds, mostly easy clover to pull. And I did. I moved on to the garden and clipped a lot of artemisia getting ready for the mowers tomorrow. It's hard to trim when artemisia is flopping everywhere. I'm ready to give the day-lilies their summer trim but it can wait till cooler days. I'll use my super duper trimmers, a Christmas gift from Doug.
I pulled two huge tomatoes avoiding a nibble from some unknown. There may be a BLT repeat but there is a super-size pepper waiting to be stuffed with good stuff in the refrigerator. We'll see. It's 4 o'clock, and the stuffing is still in the freezer. OOPS. Maybe a BLT salad will do.
He took a while to warm up but eventually he flew off.I did a major clean-up of weed piles, adding even more to the pile as I went. It's just repeat stuff that comes with the summer months. Mr. Little Bunny, I discovered is up to all the stuff that bigger bunny has done. I picked up a long stemmed zinnia that bunny must have thought was pretty. It's now in a vase. I decided to clip two more in that garden before Little bunny had a chance.
I decided it was pesto morning, so a lot of basil was picked and made into pesto. I would say there was one messy mess in the kitchen.
My stick blender doesn't work so it was all done in the regular blender with everything getting covered with pesto. What a mess but the refrigerator now has some really yummy stuff to eat. One great outcome from the mess is that the entire counter area is very clean.
The morning pick with homemade pesto in the small container. There is a lot more in the refrigerator. I added pesto to the BLT salad dressing tonight. Yum, yum!Because the day promised to be very hot, and it was, I lived in my chair with fans and water, TV and iPhone in the afternoon. The next few days will be cooler. I did make a call to Mike and tomorrow some of this white stuff called hair will disappear. There is an afternoon of church work planned with red going back in the closet and we'll celebrate the green ordinary time until Advent.
At one point in the afternoon, I added another animal to the list of animals we've seen this summer in the yard. Three HUGE buzzards of some origins were eating something in the front yard. It smelled bad as I snapped pictures. I didn't venture a close look.
I could only think bunnies but I'm probably not that lucky. Everyone needs to eat. Mr. L Bun. could be still here according to my luck.
I will add that you now know what I chose to do and what I chose not to do today. I'm retired, you know. Just one of the benefits that comes with the territory. There are a few.
Pictures came from the U P again. Eli is perusing more recipes. Jared continues to be the coffeemaker. At one time he was the soap dispenser. (family joke) And all is right with the world.
Of course, one must have coffee while playing cards. It's breakfast time. There's Mr. Coffeemaker.Breakfast made on that handy dandy little burner. It looks like pancakes are anticipated by someone else.Chef Eli is ready to eat a farmer's breakfast. I see eggs and bacon.
Did you ever wonder what Jared would look like with a moustache and long hair ? well, now you know!
