Saturday

Today was a little different.  Sometimes that happens.  I promised altar flowers for this Sunday so that was the work of the morning.  There was snipping and gathering and when the car was full of what I needed we were off to church again.  I stopped along the way to add cat tails to the collection.

Because there was plenty to choose from I decided big vases for the sanctuary and a smaller for the chapel would do.  And all was filled.  Then much to my dismay I couldn't locate my iPhone.  Where could it be?  Much to my surprise with the phone ringing it was found in the waste basket.  While cleaning up I really did a good job and gathered it with all the trimmings and pitched it.  Poor thing and poor me with a tired body just didn't need a glitch.  But of course, I was happy to have it back in my pocket again.

Something new and different but still easy.

Back home on the ranch, I had lunch.

The early afternoon job was focused on caterpillars.  The cage has been sitting in the deep shade avoiding the extreme heat of the summer.  Lately, it seemed that the caterpillars were taking their sweet time doing not much of anything.  Could it be that the cooler temperatures were making that happen? I'm not sure but this afternoon there was a cage cleaning, cage moving and now we'll see if their alarm clocks are ringing.  The cage remains full of three more attendees now in the cage munching away with some changing shape which should soon cut down on the grocery bill.

When watching life while sitting on the patio the source of bird food saw finch, woodpeckers and cardinals all eating together.  Then the air was sprinkled with butterflies again.  How peaceful and quiet with another day of wonderful fall breezy air.

A beautiful pure white dahlia with a touch of yellow in the center.

The magic of stump pulling was happening across the street preparing space for new things.  And I watched from my living room lounge chair between long naps I must admit.  The energy bucket was beyond empty. That doesn't happen very often, but this afternoon was a no moving afternoon for sure.

I can never get enough of these flowers.  I wonder if it's the color.  Seeds are saved for next year.

Later there was a short trip to Aldi's for ice cream.  And as usual a few other things filled the bag that were forgotten on my last trip.  A few food items I read about that boost the immune system were also in the bag.  One can never go wrong with ice cream for supper.

Would you believe that an anvil was at the top of the necessities list of wants for this Sophomores?                                         He has one now.  And he will be using it.  Good for you, Eli.
