Friday

It's another yucky day.  Gray all day with rain added here and there.  My dad who was the Oscar almanac guy, Oscar being his name always told us the creeks needed to be full before winter really came.  I guess the creeks are trying to be full. They can hold off yet for a month or so.

So what happened today?  It was the usual big 4 day.  Knitting, sewing, snoozing and the Y.   The knitting part means that two scarves are in the process.  One has new yarn on so it's sort of interesting with green some pink, some black and a little white.  One never knows what color is coming next.  The second one is white yarn.  Not so interesting but one I really like.  Ten more burps are in process when thinking about sewing.  The Y included a fast mile walk in less than 30 minutes.  My legs were tired but Chopin really made the walk enjoyable.  I passed through many parks in Costa Rica. Paths filled with tree roots and big rocks.  I think I'll skip that country for a vacation.  I sat for a spell listening to Mendelson and Pearlman on the violin.  What a gift to us. On the way home I bought some markers to mark rocks next week.  We'll see how that goes.

Earlier in the day I worked a bit on sprucing up the cactus and succulents.  They took a beating this summer and today I showed them a little pity.  I think they will make it through the winter.  And my Mary McD. Thanksgiving Cactus is starting to bloom.  There aren't many blooms, but they sure do look healthy.  I think the Sunday Afternoon Alarm reminding me to water has helped a lot.

Bird brain news.  Why do I think I can figure out bird stuff.  They are just like children.  Surprises with unpredictability all the time. What happened today.  I happened to be at the kitchen window, and the feeders were more than full of all kinds of birds.  ALL KINDS!  So interesting.  I guess I just wasn't at the window at the bird hour.  Then for the rest of the day...NO birds. There were even blue birds again this morning.  Three kinds of woodpeckers, lots of finch and nuthatches, and one little carolina wren.  Of course, there were a few black birds and sparrows mixed in with all the rest.  You get the idea. Surprise, surprise.

It's a Pacer game tonight.  Their last game was great with one now healthy three pointer guy shooting the lights out making a great contribution.  We'll see what happens tonight.  The chair person will be knitting, clicking those needles wrapped in her blanket.  Tomorrow is Bread and Bowl morning.  I love being busy with church community folks.  The hope is the treadmill body will be ready and able.
