Tuesday
A holiday for some. Almost any day is a holiday for us. Well, sort of. Another scarf went on the needles, and I knitted for a while. Then it was off to the hair doctor to discover that a busted pipe prevented a head scrubbing but Mike managed to cut my hair anyways. Good for Mike. When being inventive things still happen. I'm looking a bit better with what needed to leave left!
I was off to Aldie's to get a few things for making sweet rolls after the haircut. And the roll results were great. Fresh yeast does great things and adding 4 eggs and milk and butter the rolls are even better. 2 doz. rolls are iced and packed away in the freezer. Tomorrow I'll make another batch, both for the Georgia trip. So, food items are accumulating. That's a good thing. This year the turkey/ham Thanksgiving dinner is coming via the store. I like that. Another trip, for icing less than 2 miles down the road to Aldie's happened in the afternoon. Of course, a few other things were captured on both trips.
Doug told me he needed to prove the rolls were eatable. So, he did. I've never seen him hang around the kitchen like he did this afternoon. I made some coffee to add to the mint/mocha creamer I found at the store this morning. Man...was it good.
Already on the to do list for tomorrow is fixing sloppy joe hamburger as well baking that second roll batch. I think I made my very first batch when I was a teenager. I did a lot of baking while in high school. I think Chuck, the B. B. Truck driver will get some rolls on Thursday. One day later because of Veterans Day. I'm looking forward to a warmer Thursday for sure when the north door closes and the south door opens. Brr for today. I'm about finished with Georgia prep. Then it's back to thinking Advent at North. My mind certainly stays occupied.
The birds have been evasive again. A few are here but I would imagine they are trying to stay warm with a quick fly in and then out again. It's been a quick trip to where it's very cold.
So tonight, there will be time for knitting. Once again, the sewing machine has been quiet. I have stacks of finished burp cloths so I'm not hurting for burps. The scarves continue to pile higher and higher but at a rather slow rate. It's been a good day meaning my body stayed where it should have stayed. Thanks be to God and being aware of my surroundings.
At 9:30 tonight the Northern Lights were bright in the northwest with a deep red color. Woo, woo!
