Saturday and Sunday
There was way to0 much fun to remember the blog yesterday. But today...the Michigan van pulled out at 9. My head is full of memories once again. I'll take it.
Now for a little bit of the weekend drama. The kids arrived Friday night.. Let's say a little after 12 with not such good news. The van was developing unaware trouble for a while. Almost like a major overhaul that allowed for driving less that 50 m p allowing the van not to shake, rattle and almost roll. Jared took the van to several places Saturday morning all saying a lot of major parts needed to be ordered and were not available till Tues. So. What to do. The decision was made to leave Sunday morning with a less than 50 mph ride the hole way back home. I would say the short stay was much better than none. So, a sick car is going home with the addition of one sick boy, Eli. I guess it could be worse, but this wasn't the best for sure. Crazy two days I would say. Christmas can be that way and ours was.
But other good things came out of Saturday if one could forget about the van. Kimmy and I worked at Bread and Bowl. She was a wonderful second in charge helping me more that I could have ever imagined. One important job was to break into the office to get a key that would let us get to cooking. All the usual support group had the morning off. We were in trouble. She went over the counter at my suggestion and with a card managed to unlock the door. All skills needed to make food available for our neighborhood friends. The morning was long with a whole lot to do, and we accomplished all of it. Heidi and I freshened the sanctuary making changes for the season of Christmas Tide. There will be more workdays soon.
Then back home and an afternoon and evening of being together adding the Eric family, opening gifts and playing cards among other things, one being a electric shock potato game. The food prep was simple. There was enough of that during the morning hour. I was one tired pup by evening, all entertainingly tired. I'd do it again in a second. Even the break in. Well, after a good rest with sleep, come to think of it.
So today Sunday is a day of staying home with a change of pace that is needed for us today. We'll stream church, gather all the water bottles for recycling and find bits and pieces that will remind us of the last few days.
There is some very good news to share. Once again, I've been approved for another year concerning my Cancer Medications that cost an arm and a leg but will come to me free of charge after financial records have been shared with the providing company. What a gift that is prolonging life in the best of all ways. I am blessed.
Knitting continues. Living continues. Remembering continues. The house is quiet once again. But the sounds of laughter have not left our minds. Now the hope is that the Michigan family has a van that returns home safely with all bodies healed. We're ready for the new year.
How did Kimmy learn to us a card to break into a locked room?
