Saturday

It was two kinds of days all wrapped up into one.  The first part was busy in so many ways and the second part a big sleep over sit over taking care of the first part. Yes, it was Soup Kitchen day.  I thought the brain was waking up an hour later than it should.  I was happy to learn that I had one more hour than though to get ready for the trip south.  Woo.  Time became a big gift.

So I was on the way south at 8 arriving as usual to do a lot of preparation before the gang arrived.  We were gifted with a new volunteer that was kept busy in so many ways just like all the usual workers.  Craig was the best helper yet having served in other soup kitchens.  So, the morning went on as usual with all jobs finished around 10:30 giving us time to visit and become better acquainted.  My favorite time of the morning.

The guests arrived as usual at 11.  There were times when the line was long and sometimes the line was short.  Their gift of visiting with us is huge in my mind.  There are funny things that bring laughter and we do a lot of that.

By 12 lunch was completed and the doors closed for the day.  Heidi and I went to the sanctuary preparing it for the Sunday Service.  And then it was out the door and on the road again.  I stopped at Aldi's to buy much needed pop tarts that Doug will eat for tomorrow's breakfast and beyond.  I noticed that he ate the last on the shelf this morning. Then it was on to home and lunch.  I sat in the sun for a while.  Checked on some Iris that needed a burn off of last year's left-over foliage.  It's a special kind of iris.  Most do just fine with no burn.

Ginna and I decided to hit the library seed catalog today.  Doug drove us and darn!  It doesn't open till March 7th.  We were a week early.  We walked her yard looking for Jonquils and found a lot peaking through.  Some also at places she had forgotten they were planted last fall.

Then it was nap time and TV time although I wish I could have slept through the TV time. The news isn't so hot these days.  So, less thinking suits me a little better.  I think there is a huge connection between body, mind and health. So, I try to honor that as much as I can. Some day's happenings make it   difficult to find success.  Others are overflowing with good thoughts. Today was one fitting with the first mentioned.

So tomorrow is another first day of the week.  It's a church day with communion.  One I appreciate along with so many others. I'll move toward good thoughts.

Dee.  Andrew is putting together pictures and suggestions of musical selections for each day of Lent on face book.  I'm really impressed.  You may want to ask to join his face book site.. It's just something he wanted to do. No college assignment.

No pictures today.  The mind and body are happy with that.
