Monday
Mullin. I love how this looks. What do I do with it? Just look at it until it looks ugly. Then it out!
Well, the day didn't start the way I thought it was starting. I would call it an oops morning. The first oops was when I looked at my watch thinking it was 5:30 am. So I got up and did all the morning stuff to start the day and then finding out 5:30 was really 4:30 am. Yikes. Not so hot a start. So I just sort of muddled around until 7:10 and I was off to the hospital for a repeat blood test. Second big oops. No blood work happened. Labs were closed for the day. The stars were not aligned for sure. What a disappointment. I thought hospitals never closed. I guess I learned more than I wanted to. So tomorrow, I'll try some things for the second time.
I spent some quiet time on the patio listening to and watching the birds. A chipmunk managed to put himself in jail so later once again on our way to Wild Birds we released him to play with his buddies in the park. Yes...on the way. Yesterday's squirrel events ticked me off and we were on the way for a baffle to deter their peanut attempt. We've been to W. Birds so often I think they should be awarding us a prize. The baffle went on and all the feeders were rearranged to make accommodations. Some of the birds show confusion with their favorite food move to other places. Others get it right away. It's interesting to watch.
Since installing we have not seen one squirrel. What happened. This afternoon I needed to make decisions about where the LAST Dahlias would land. Well, the decision to move Lenten Roses came to me. I dug a garden cart full and my neighbor Gina took all of them. Done, Over and Finished with where Dahlias will happen this year. The Lenten Roses have been in the ground for a long time so it wasn't the easiest job to get them out. But out they came with my handy dandy little shovel with a little help from it's big sister.
L.Roses gone and you see the last of three big holes. Woo, woo!
I did some ground fluffing. The weeds were beginning to show up after having a good start with all the rain. There will be more small flower planting but all the big jobs are finished.
I think it's time for a little Preen. That really helps a lot. Time to grow, flowers.I had a rather long sleep in the afternoon to make up for the first oops. Lettuce arrived from the garden making another delicious salad for supper. The bibs lettuce has been wonderful. Cool temperatures have been with us helping to avoid bitterness adding a longer growing season for sure.
The rue is ready for swallowtail egg laying. The dill is coming right along behind the rue.So it was an interesting and in some ways challenging day. And yes...some days are like.... Another basketball game tonight. Let's go Cleveland. It was a blow out game last night. I hate those.
Pretty, pretty.
