Sunday Pentecost. The coming of the Holy Spirit.
Yellow Finch are at the feeders again. Could it be a break between raising two families of kids.
Yes..my favorite Sunday of the church year. The day rolled around and I was up first as usual. And Doug forgot to wake up as usual. So we were a little bit later getting to church. Well, just by10 minutes. There was plenty of time to talk to those gathering before the prelude. It was a typical Indy 500 Sunday with the west side folks trapped at home unable to leave because of race traffic. The west end churches always cancel services because of that factor. So Pentecost celebration was a bit weak with attendance but the visuals made it work along with all the other things that make church. Darren, once again added a mention of Memorial Day but mostly it was all about Pentecost. My favorite stories to hear once again. Hymns were wisely chosen with great liturgy supporting the spirit. I declared it to be a great Sunday morning sending Darren a text with those words in the afternoon.
After church once again there was another plant swap of sorts. The swap all went one direction...from Laurel to Kathy and I.
One of the altar flower arrangements came home with me. Beautifully arranged with colors of reds and oranges. Other red banners found in the sanctuary will stay for a while.
Colors so appropriate for the Birthday of the Church.Lunch happened with entertainment for the afternoon being the 500 race. It usually is blacked out in Indy but not today. It was sold out so no black out. I saw it for the first time from my chair. The best seat in the house. Years ago I attended a time trial. I think it was even before we were married. Yikes. That was a very long time ago. That experience was enough for all times.
Peaking at me is the House Finch of which there are many.Today's challenge from morning till late afternoon were many attempts at trapping squirrels. Once again this morning the suet took a licking. It's an ongoing challenge. There's a baffle at Wild Birds we need we could call a birthday gift to each other! Makes sense to me.
Someone told the House Finch, it was time to go. Could we call these Pentecost birds? The Indy 500 race closed with an exciting ending and I think a new winner. I think! I'm not much about racing. I decided it was time to spread some new flower seeds, Bachelor Buttons for one. And then the rain put a stop to that. The secret is to keep trying. I would define the day as being a pretty good one. Early tomorrow, let's say 7:30 am, I'll be at IU North again for another blood try. Pray that this one will bring better results. I'll go for better and it could even be good with the WBC improving. That would be good. Time will tell.
A few years ago Jared dug a pond on their property. It has produced many interesting stories. This year as in some others, it once again is lined with a black edge. The black boarder is created by many, many tadpoles. There will be plenty of frogs in a few weeks. This year also brought a family of ducks who have moved on to other spots returning on occasion.Always near the computer...No amount of regret changes the past. No amount of anxiety changes the future. Any amount of gratitude changes the present.
