Saturday
A super sleeping morning for what ever reason. Reasons are not important. It just happened which is great. Breakfast as usual and then time to think and watch the birds.
I think this is a blue bird baby at the feeder. The parents delivered a lot of the same finch food. I didn't see the parents all day. I think they are on vacation with the children on their own these days.I fluffed one of the beds preventing any weeds of ever thinking they would succeed. Then I moved to the stepping stone walk that leads from the driveway into the back yard. I pulled out a Lenten Rose. It just wasn't in the right place and the two that were left were enough for the space. I moved a few other things adding a zinnia, more hens and chicks, some thyme and other ground cover. I think this will be a work in progress for some time.
t's a walk way with more interest but needs some age to make it right. Then I moved on to the Dahlias moving the night time anti rabbit caps up. That would allow the sun to do it's magic helping with growth. They are looking better but still need a lot of night time protection. The ground was fluffed for more weed control.
A late lunch happened and it was time for soccer again. And again it was accompanied with a sleep. At some point it was back in the garden working where butterflies should be seen one of these days. One shouldn't get to anxious about their arrival. One year it was August before the monarchs showed up. Plants are looking good.
There is more green in the garden with two very healthy Cleome soon ready to bloom. The verbena is showing flowers. All butterflies love it. I may need to do some trimming. It self seeds every year.I did a bit of change with the asparagus fence including more plants that were left out in the restaurant area. Now they are safe.
One of my favorites that never disappoints. Lantana.I decided it was soccer time again since the sun was making it a bit sweaty. Time to cool off message came to me. It was the Germans against Ivory Coast which was a very good game of mostly defense with a few exceptions. That makes a good exciting game.
A healthy little plant that just keeps on giving.Gina continues to work on her yard. Her project is huge and she is well into it with a whole lot more to do. After supper I made another round to the garden spotting a tiny bunny. The Dahlias protection returned to them for the night. The day lilies were deer sprayed. All is well, all is well. (I hope)
