Thursday

What a beautiful friend was waiting for me in the garden.  It's not hard to find something new.                                                         And yes, the deer and rabbits do bring surprises.

A beautiful morning to work in the garden...And I did.  It was dead heading some things.  Then snipping spent zinnias allowing them to grow more flowers in all of the beds.  The Hosta always are on the cutting board this time of year.  I enjoy their flowers when they stand tall but when it's leaning time they are telling me it's time for trimming those long stems. So that happened. I see neat beds when that happens.  I fertilized some flowers calling for a pep up.  Others said we are OK for now.  The garden cart was full so the Big Blues got a donation.  Little bunny was hopping around and early this morning he pretty much finished trimming the lobelia replanted in a pot where it could be reached. I finished  trimming what was left giving it a drink with additional fertilizer.  Bunny must do without for now.

Ms. Becky Daisy was beginning to show her good side.  Just look at all those buds soon to be flowers.

The delivery of Protein drinks from Amazon happened.  They are not an every day drink but necessary after a day of good garden work.  They make a difference on how I feel for the rest of the day adding a lot of late afternoon energy. My body says "It's about time!"  I ordered vanilla and chocolate.

Another try at making this walk more interesting.  Does it need Mr. Rooster? I think some of the             shade plants need to be removed even though there is shade till noon.  There is not much love for                 the afternoon heat.  Couldn't they just use sun screen? I guess not.

Lunch happened and then it was time to work on the stepping stone path leading from the back yard to the driveway.  I'm just not happy about the results so some things came out and some things were added.  I lifted some of the stones putting pea gravel down and then relaying the stones to make them higher.  It's an effort to provide a dry place to walk after a heavy rain. One of the house down spouts empty in that area.  I needed more pea gravel but decided after a couple of hours of work, tomorrow could be used for additional time.  It's a work in progress with a list of things to purchase at Ace Hardware. I filled a big pot purchased yesterday at Goodwill with potting soil and good old dirt preparing to find and plant all those little red bud trees for Jared and Kimmy.  That's also on the to do list of things for another day.

It's Miss Tipsy.  There was a yesterday picture, yesterday.  Today there is a today picture today.

Then it was time to cool off with TV time and the fan.  It was a welcomed break in the afternoon that lasted longer than I had planned. Late afternoon I took some pictures.  Then once again made a delicious garden salad with just about everything I could think of for supper. We ate on the patio. The evening held more soccer time.  USA has a late game tonight.  Ugh!  Can I make it?

A last look at the flower nigella on the left along with seed pods forming. See you next year.

Tomorrow starts off with an early cancer infusions at I U North.  Living strong with cancer seems like a new old experience since 2020,  Keeping on, keeping on with all that a day brings has been the fuel that has spurred me on with the old and the new.  And when the day is full of just about anything the journey seems to have meaning.  So after the infusions, I'll be off to Ace with my list.  More decisions to make, some being good and of course some might be just the opposite.  Then if all goes as expected I'll make a trip to see Ramona who continues her rehab back to independence. That's the busy good living brings.  I am blessed.
