Something good to start with. An altar arrangement from the Kathy and Lela gardens. How sweet.  Today was a day of the unexpected.   Woo.   At our age the unexpected should be the expected.  But I would not like to think that way.   I was up first and early with a great shower and dressed for church with breakfast done as well as a little knitting and TV.  At 8 Doug was hanging his legs out over the bed and mumbling a few words.  After getting my hearing aids in the mumbling turned to the word that he was having heart pains since around 3.  Some not so bad and some not so good.  Humm.  What to do.  So, he decided to try nitroglycerin pills.  And finally said...lets go to I U North.  So, we did.  That was the unexpected for the day.  And once again I U North folks took care of us with all kinds of machine stuff and big-time bloodwork.  No heart attack but a suggested stress test needed to happe...

Saturday

It has been a slow day.  Not much happening around here on a gloomy Saturday.  No sun, few birds a snow dusting overnight and not a whole lot going on in this house.  It's been pretty quiet. Breakfast happened and I think one of the first things on the list was to finish trimming the Christmas Eve candles.  I did that but was to lazy to melt any wax for votives.  That will happen another day.  I knitted for the rest of the morning finishing another bow tie neck scarf.  I was totally frustrated with one part having no problem with that on knitting two tens together on the first scarf I did.  I never did figure out how to do that but knew what the outcome was.  So I figured out another way which wasn't very easy.  And then I finished the scarf.                                                ...

It's what I call a productive day.  I like that.  I closed out on another 100 burp cloths this morning making a total of 1800 burps at this point.  A lot of new mother's shoulders have been spared from newborn spit ups.                                           The sewing machine is coming through again.  Hip, hip, hooray.  I did a pill container filler up .  I'm good for another two weeks.  I wonder how many of you remember pulling into the gas station and rolling down the window and saying filler up ?  That really did happen.  And we drove off with a tank full of gas.  It certainly isn't that way now.  I also remember saying 2 dollars worth please and when the amount went to 3 dollars, that was quite surprising.  You all know what pill containers look like so no picture!  It's the same f...

Thursday

Once again, it's a day without current pictures.  So you get some old ones.  The current pictures would be white.  Boring in my book.  It was a pretty simple day.  Electricity stayed on, No trips to the church or library.  Just simple.                                                                     Such a soft shade of pink.  Breakfast as usual and birds as usual.  Bossy Robin is still with us playing king of the flock.   While the sewing machine was still in the fix it shop, I did a lot of ripping and marking getting flannel ready for sewing. So today I sewed almost all morning and into the afternoon.  My back was sore, so I suggested the Y to get some walking done.  Doug was ready to go and much to my delight I wal...

Wednesday.

What an easy day.  No electrical upheaval.  I call that an easy day.  And the house is still here, and the breakers are all doing their job of keeping the lights on.  I must have done something right. The morning started as usual with the birds, coffee and breakfast.  There was some ironing of burps but not much and then I was on my way to meet Heidi at church.  I started out a little late. so, I was a little late arriving.  That is a sure thing to happen never able to make up the time lost.  There is no need to try. The Sunday sermon is about Jesus' first miracle, the water into wine at the wedding.  Heidi worked on the altar.                                            Th e water into wine.  The first miracle in the ministry of Jesus.    I headed for a stack of boxes holding Christmas Can...

Woo, What a day this has been.  This one was really rare, and I hope doesn't happen again for a long, long time.  Maybe never.  More about that later.   I will add it was an afternoon thing.  I slept in today.  Doug usually asked me if the coffee maker started up by itself.  I usually say no.  The no is because I start it myself because I'm up before he has set the time.  So today I thought coffee would be ready when I hit the kitchen.  Humm.  He forgot to push some buttons.  So, I started it once again.  And I had coffee with bran flakes and blue berries again.   The bird work was done early with only a Carolina Wren in attendance for a very short time.  It was cold outside, I prepared more burps by doing more marking, a whole lot more marking.  I did some phone calls and received one that told me the sewing machine was ready.  So at some point we were on our way to Select Sewing to pay...

Monday

Image
Once again Monday started with Bran Flakes, coffee and birds.  I just happened to see a Starling get in a feeder that had mealworms and black sunflower seeds.  Apparently, my fix wasn't a fix.  So, the feeder came in and I made some changes.  And of course, the Robin found a new perch on top of the feeder.  So once again I made some changes.                                                                         It failed the test.   I think I have something that resembles the TIN MAN.  My hope is that the danglers will be a deterrent for both of the birds.  Oh, dear...That was another oops. Mr. Starling fought his way through.    And once again I saw Blue Birds and their plan is a better one.  They just c...
