More color coming to the garden. \ So, it's all about Thursday.  It won't be much, but you will get all of it.  I had a great sleep last night.  Upping the restless leg meds to two in the evening instead of one is the ticket to a great sleep.  Breakfast and all that goes with it happened.  And then of course a walk through the garden.                                                                                             ...

Today you will see a mixture of Michigan and Indiana pictures.  This space is what I call a big garden.  The fact that this garden will be a Michigan garden, delays the growing season about three weeks behind us in growth in some cases.  They also have had more rainy days than usual today being one of those.             A well-watered path that brings out color in this maple chip lined bath.  I could resist posting.  It was another day in Indiana with some things the same and some things different.  Waking up and breakfast, pill taking and looking to retrieve the paper begins the day.  Then came the walk through the garden with much looking the same also. The garden job this morning was moving plants from where they were not doing so hot to a hotter place.  Every year in some parts of the garden the shade has grown.  The sun lovers now in the shade are not happy, so a few plants demanded a move to...

Back home again in Indiana.  That's where we were arriving late afternoon yesterday after a wonderful time with Jared, Kimmy and the grandsons adding Kimmy's many relatives to our visit.  It was just what I needed.                                                         Happy times but good grief.  What's with the hair, girl?      We arrived late at the Jared/Kimmy Russell home Thursday afternoon again rediscovering family again along with many free-range chickens, three cats, joe, the horse, three ducks four ewes and Eli's sheep for this year's 4-H entry.  Numerous goldfish would join us later in the week.       This is Eli's friend Hope holding renamed Barb because her nest was found hidden in the rhubarb.             ...

Meet Steve.   What was today like.  I would say there were two distinctive parts with the third one coming this evening.  It started with the usual meal of yogurt, blueberries, walnuts with the paper all with a cup of coffee on the patio.  Then of course I walked the garden, and a couple of hours was spent there doing all kinds of stuff.  There was weeding, edging, transplanting plants I found, snipping here and there, raking and shovel work.  By 11 I called it quits to my outdoor life.                                                                                    More Kimmy Pictures The house housed me until 2:15 whe...

Today, was sort of the same but a whole lot different.  Perhaps it started to be different last night.  I'm usually in bed by at least 10:30. Near 12 Doug asked if I was going to bed.  I used the evening till almost 12 to work on the stole making super progress.  Yesterday was a bell ringer of work for sure.  And this morning after being up at 6, I was back at it by 7 with a whole lot of hand work staring me in the face. There can only be an onward and forward with Wed. being the dead, dead, deadline. I will add it turned out to be different and better than I thought. Knowing Jill which isn't very well because of being new to North, I think she will love it.  She has a beautiful collection of stoles in her office and this one will be added. Now you can take aim at me.  I forgot to take a picture!  I'm great at ducking. Sad to say we won't see her wear it for the first time but I'm sure she will have it on the rest of the Sundays in June....

With a good sleep to start the day, I was ready for whatever would come my way.  So, it was breakfast, the paper, a garden walk and more.  And there was a whole lot more.                                Th ese wood chips brighten my day.  A super reuse of a wonderful old friend. I was off to Quilt Quarters for yellow and green batik to add to the stole making.  And the morning was spent with the fabric cutter and the sewing machine.  I was on a roll but there were other plans for at least part of the morning.  A neighbor's tree down the road fell on the power lines and the electricity was no more.  So that meant the sewing machine didn't work.  It isn't the treadle type machine, you know. So, I did what I could meaning cutting more fabric for a bit .                        ...

Yes...the first and only place I ever had rabbit was at your house, Dee.  I've never had it at my house.  Peter is seen more than once at this house just being a rabbit.  Some of that is not so good.  This morning, he tried zinnias but didn't like them just leaving the top that was nipped lying there.  Of course, zinnias do better if the top is nipped but not quite as much as Peter thought to accommodate the plant. Could he be trained to be a good gardener?  Don't think so.                            There is Peter, sleeping away the afternoon.  More flowers were on the ground.  And once again rain gave us another overnight visit.  I went through most of my library books looking for what might be eating some of the zinnias. The worst place is the area I cleared this spring when the tree fell.  It was covered with Solomon seal.  I'm beginning t...

Tomorrow, we celebrate Pentecost.  The coming of the Holy Spirit to the disciples.                                The birthday of the church.  During the summer months the first service is in the chapel.                                                       The flowers will be moved to the sanctuary for the second service.   You could call this the same old same old morning.  The new suet cake was available.  Rain last night eliminated the Friday evening dust so there was a Saturday morning dusting.  I emptied two of the jugs of their plants filling 99.9% of available garden space.  The ...
