A great sleep last night with the gift of rest for the body as well as the mind.  I am forever grateful.  I was ready to meet the day and what it might bring.  At breakfast I broke out the last yogurt so I knew a trip to the grocery would be on the ticket.             Your last chance this year to see Morning Glories.  As of today...GONE for the summer of '25. But first the garden cart came out with tools of Hedge Trimmers and Lopers and Rake and Shovel.  It was a serious morning in store with words starting with capital letters.  The tomatoe cages came down with clearing the plants after picking the tomatoes.  The yummy BLT kind of tomatoes.  Some ripe and some not so ripe. The chicken wire was gathered but still needing a good roll.  Over the hill flowers were clipped and roots were dug.  The short flower "trunks" when tripped over are so dangerous to this tippy body I live in.  The ga...

I sent this picture to the two Mi soccer players telling them I was ready to play even having my soccer socks on ready to go saying pick me, pick me.  Adam invited me to play on his team but forgot to send me the practice schedule.  Reading between the lines gave me the message.  I suggested Christmas wasn't coming this year. It was an early morning wake up, and I just went with it.  There was sewing to finish and that happened.  I looked up my IU portal and found the scan report.  My interpretation was that the cancer seems to be pretty stable, much like the scan of 6 months ago.  If that is confirmed by Dr. Schneider, I'll be floating somewhere on a cloud on a very sunny day with zinnias everywhere I look. The six months ago report was very, very good. Today's report seemed to echo that report. While retrieving the Star, I confirmed two honeysuckle stumps remain to be pull.  Two were pulled yesterday so the score is one to be proud of.  The...

Sunday

Fall Asters are on the way.   There are times when there are major surprises.  Last night ended with one of those after the blog was posted.  Yes, there was another Tachycardia attack meaning experiencing a very fast out of control heart beat rate. This makes breathing almost impossible. This one lasting not so long calling over and done early. After a call to a doctor friend, at his insistence we were on our way to the ER again.  This is the third chapter but the shortest one.  No heart damage showed up with x-rays, cardiograms and bloodwork.  I've been blessed again.  One of these days, I guess I'll be talking to the cardio guy again!  So, the night on the town at IU North ended around 1.  I guess that makes this paragraph a legitimate part of the Sunday post.                                            ...

This entry might be a little short on information because there is not much of it.  So, here's the deal. Last night's sleep was a good one with a wake up around 7:30. Yikes.  I needed to be on the road to church a little after 8 for Soup Kitchen Day. So, breakfast was quick, and the coffee went with me in the car a little after 8.  Church arrival was 8:30 and I found the Community Rm bursting with bakery bread and a lot of desert pastries.  More than usual.  I did find the desert freezer entirely empty so the deserts were like manna from heaven or so the guests would think.   I got all the early stuff finished but learned that two of our good workers would not be coming. That was NOT good news.  So, Heidi, James and I had a lot to do.  So, the morning was a tough one with no break as we usually have.  It was just a very long morning, barely meeting the 11:00 opening with more work which continued on till 12.  With a short brea...

Friday

Image
Yes, Friday always follows Thursday which follows Wednesday.  It a pattern just like Mandalas. Zinnas flowers also having patterns with Sunflowers also in this group.    The straw flowers improve with age.  So does wine.  Some other things don't like milk after the due date.  Right Kimmy?  I have nothing to say about a lot of birthdays.  I would like to think the jury is out.  I was on the road to IU North Schwarz Cancer Center for an early morning blood draw poke. This time with a butterfly needle.  Not one of those honker needles of yesterday. That means the results could be to me by noon with a phone call from Julie, Dr. Schneiders nurse.                                           Another beautiful cosmos.  One of those late bloomers.  I gifted the three ladies at the check-in desk at S...

Thursday

An unnamed butterfly seen this evening. The big guys are still around. The morning came early but I stayed in bed till six.  No need to hurry the day.  But I did do a bit of that when I realized I needed to eat breakfast before seven given that order came from the Scan Guy.  That was one thing I had forgotten even after having a number of scans in the past.  So, out of bed and breakfast eaten as it should have been.   I cleaned the cage this afternoon and these are the chrysalis that will be wintered over till next spring. I'm not sure how this will work but it's worth a try.  One chrysalis left on the patio table connected to a rock was eaten by something.  This protector wasn't working.                             The little black speck ...

Wednesday

Finally there is a touch of marigolds.  They should be easy to grow but NOT this year.                                                                                       Maybe I need a refresher course! Halfway through the week or so I call Wednesday with B Blues coming through.  The driver always waves to me when I'm in the garden.  Today I got to ask him his name.  Chuck it is and he told me he's been getting my garbage person for seven years.  He deserves a big, big wave for sure.  Nice man he is.           Another great zinnia.  I'm waiting for two more to bloom for the ...

Tuesday

Today started in the 5 am hour.  But the night began around 10 last night so I had a few winks.  I watched a little TV to start the day.  It's not necessarily a good start but that's the way it is these days.  It was a dark morning and one that probably will be repeated more than once this week.                            I enlarged a section of Susan's mandala and you might be able to see more detail.                                                                                            There is a lot of twill work. I checked my computer mail and found a note from Darren sending an essay he had read for...

Monday

Pumpkin time among the zinnias.  It was a take it slow Monday morning.  I snipped flowers for the table.  I say they look a little pumpkiny. with orange.  I did another larger arrangement with big grown-up zinnias for neighbor Kathy.  There was a misty feeling in the air and eventually it did rain during the day.  What a gift to the plants trying to make it through the fall.  I rolled some chicken wire that wasn't needed any more.  That was the extent of the morning garden work.                            My guy of the garden Saint Fiacre with his shovel ready to work. When break time ...
