Thursday all day.

Great Wordle and all the rest of the morning agenda was finished in good time.  Then it was on to thinking church. Decorating is on my mind with lots of great people helping already but we need even more.  I saw a posting on Facebook.  Thanks, Linda.  Northerners are hearing about the opportunity to be a part of this celebration in many places., I HOPE!   Working after church is over, we should be finished in perhaps 45 minutes with all areas needing attention.  That is if we get enough help.  I am organized.  We'll see how long that lasts.                                            With a little more tweaking there are two swags ready to hang on Sunday.  .  I made a laughable mess in the dining room while futzing with the arrangements..  Who said kids are messy.  Not any more than me!...

Busy Wednesday

Image
Busy Wednesday and I kept up with everything.  It was just going from one job to the next.  As I said a few days ago, you know...one foot in front of the other.   I flunked the wordle  Life could be worse. My goodness, I'm beginning to wonder at the moment where I started.  Last night I ended with chili and this morning I started with an oatmeal breakfast!  It was all uphill from there.  I moved on to Sloppy Joes, then chocolate chip cookies intermingled with sweet rolls until the end came to both of them with good results.  The cookie sheets were almost overworked.                           Adam visits me all the time.  Don't you love that little smile?  It's still with him.  I cleaned up messes more than once that came with baking..  Around 12:30 came the final wash-up and a kitchen filled with wonderful baking reminders.   A ...

Getting Ready Tuesday.

Image
This morning I headed south again to church to work with Heidi on preparing areas for Advent decorating.  The youth group did a wonderful job of carrying things from the attic to the first floor Sunday afternoon.                                      A gift from my monastery friends now hanging in the chapel at North.  Today our job was to help the decorating process along by moving what was retrieved from the attic to the area where needed.  A long morning of work but one that will help a whole lot on Sunday when.   each designated area has a leader that will direct the process.  My hope is that no more than 45 minutes are needed to complete all of the jobs.  Many hands make light the work.   Cranberry sauce with turkey is one of the family favorites hidden in the freezer. On the way home I stopped at three groceries to get...

Slow Monday.

Image
Memories, memories.   All the morning stuff happened although I still don't have a clue about wordle. I gave up. Today slow seemed to be what's would be the case..  So slow it was.  The engine just could not get into third gear so it just stayed in a slow second.  Time should change that.  Over the years of living I have learned to put one foot in front of the other and eventually that can primed the pump.  The new placemat set helped me do that,  receiving the finishing touches and will be with its new owners next Sunday ready for Christmas and snowmen..                                                    Monday is the day to water plants and that happened.                                 ...

Sunday, one of surprises.

The morning started bright and early.  Well, maybe not so bright since we're on slow time again.  Dark mornings are what we have, but the day started regardless. .  That's something to make note of.  All the usual activities but not the crossword.  Not up to the New York edition in the Sunday Star.   I looked at the fabric and decided to wait for for the sewing part.  Then I decided to start sewing. Happy to know I can change my mind. The side of the placemats that needed siding is finished and ready to be put together.                  This years harvest altar arrangement.  Another wonderful reminder contributed by Patty H.  Then it was time to leave for church. The service was well crafted and Amy preached.  This was health and healing Sunday and those that needed prayer and oil received it at the communion rail.  I love this service of quiet and unhurried time suppo...

Saturday

The day began as usual.  Early rising, crossword, wordle, birds fed, ice broken out of the bird bath, breakfast, t v news,  as usual.  Same old same old as son Jared always says.  I left the house at 8:40 for Bread and Bowl, soup kitchen work.  It's really not soup anymore.  The bread still continues.  A delicious macaroni with tomatoes, squash, meat, carrots, cheese, and more was the main dish.                                                          Dear Rita, volunteering to do the dishes every week.    It was the first morning of snow which is always a bit exciting even though I've seen many of those first snows.  Window-watching the snow fall always happens until I'm tired of standing. The first snow can be wimpy.  This first one did not disappoint i...

Friday.

Early morning stuff and Doug and I were on our way to IU Saxonyat  146th and US 69.  It's a long drive in early morning traffic but we made our 8:15 appointment.  The rest of the morning Doug was with the nurses and I was in the cafeteria and main lobby working on all the stuff I brought to entertain myself.  All of Doug's heart procedures happen at this hospital.  I know the place well.  Another home away from home.     Most of the testing has been completed.  And ofcourse he's reading his Scientific America.  It's such an interesting magazine and he brought one for me to read as well. It was a quiet morning with Doug getting a break midway to eat breakfast.  His test was called a chemical stress test and we'll get the results next week.  He thinks it went well but really what does he know.  He is not the doctor. The rest of the afternoon included a sleep for me and more sewing.  My goal is to use up all t...
