So what did I do today.  Somethings somehow slip out of my mind soon after they happens.  Bummer.   But...I remember I got up.  Same old same old with breakfast, bird watching, paper fetching and coffee drinking.  Same old same old for sure.   I decided to do some phone stuff.  I'm way past my yearly eye exam and was going to take that even farther but then my eyes started to spill over with tears.  I googled some and information said that can be a cancer side effect for some folks.  So that got me thinking that I'd better see what's going on.  And that appointment will come in the middle of March.   I received a phone call from Kaylee, the pharmacist at I U Simon Cancer Center.  She was checking to see if I was getting my medicine and my answer was yes, I think the supplier has found me.  I was wondering for a while. Knowing they care gives me comfort.  I think I'm plugged into the supplier with ...

A great night of sleep and a decent wake up.  Six AM and time for myself.  Breakfast as usual.  A little knitting as usual and a whole lot of bird work filling all the feeders, thawing the water and watching the whole bird family coming for their first meal of the day.  They have many meals, and I would suppose that is one of the things that fights off the cold for them.  It was a bundled up outside time clearing the patio first of another small snow fall and then a walk to the street for the paper.                           I wonder if we'll see Monarchs this year.  My guess now is there will be very few.  Here is a list of morning visitors: finch, red-bellied woodpecker, flicker, robin, hairy woodpecker, downy woodpecker, chickadee, bluebirds, along with starlings and junco. A picture from a stash of pictures.  Not a today picture but still a good one.  Th...

Another 6 am wake up.  That's all right giving me time to see what is happening with me and the inside and outside world.  It was a yogurt breakfast with blue berries and walnuts ending with coffee.  The birds were taken care of next, and the newspaper came in when it was really light outside.  I'm not messing with the problem of not finding the paper without good light.   I took up the knitting with about 4 inches till the end of the scarf and finished it between naps.  I just couldn't keep my eyes open this morning, so I didn't fight the urge.  So, the second wake up came around 10 when I got the urge to melt wax. It was time to empty the boxes from Georgia.     But being a little unorganized it didn't go so well.  I didn't think through as to what to put the melted wax in which resulted in one candle needing to be dug out of what I thought would be a good mold.  The sides were not straight enough for the candle to...

Brrrrrr in Michigan.  -6.  Warm in Carmel +6.  Well, it wasn't very warm in Carmel when it took a sweatshirt along with a wool sweater underneath a coat to keep me warm when getting the paper off the driveway.  Brrr in Carmel.  Just not so many r's in Brrr as in Michigan.   As usual all the usual happened.  The B B flock was back again around 8 and I thawed the bird bath.  They are patient waiters for that to happen. They are the biggest drinkers.  I should take a lesson. I knitted again while watching the news and then got all the things together that needed attention at the bank and post office.  I thought about thistle gathering.  Maybe Doug can push me along.  It's got to happen soon if it happens.  I might wait till it's 20 degrees out or until the snow melts.                                    ...

Today was pretty simple.  And simple is good.  There was an early wake up with all the usual stuff.  I retrieved the paper for Doug.  Read a little of it and had breakfast.  The birds were fed, and the B Bird flock once again came around.  One Starling got into the B Bird feeder.  There was one panicked bird trapped for a bit but then managed to escape. He needs to remember how that felt.  I managed to remember to make a phone call setting up some therapy sessions addressing some minor issues that one of my doctors thinks needs some attention.  I'm always aiming to please.  That will start later in the month.  I'm hoping for a one and done thing.  We'll see.                          I took this picture in March of 2023.  I'm determined to finish this before 2026!                     ...

A wake up at 6:30.  That's getting on the late side but 7 am wouldn't be bad at all.  It's another church day.  It started with an overnight snowfall that we awoke to, helping to start another winter morning.  Retrieving the paper was a bit interesting.  It was delivered before the snowfall started so it was pretty well covered giving me a where's Waldo feeling.  Which white bump covered the paper? There was bird watching.  The Starlings were a pain pushing each other off the peanut feeder.  I tried another thing to discourage them, but it didn't work.  The B Birds food order was delivered to their restaurant and the Starlings thought they could move right in for a meal.  That was impossible.  When we came home from church, I just took the peanut feeder down. I would have liked to have seen better manners at the table.   That cleared the scenery of Starlings immediately. I just wasn't very patient.   Mr. Robin a...

Saturday

I would say today was a rather calm day.  Not much happening out of the ordinary.  Just a good solid Saturday.   Brahms requiem is one of my favorite pieces.  I've sung it a few times at church concerts.  It's beautifully written.  A couple of weeks ago I found it on my phone's U Tube.  It's been playing in my mind ever since.  Well, it came around in my dreams last night.  That's the first time something like that ever happened.  What a gift.  So the morning wake up started with Brahms.  Not a bad way to start at all.  I finished another scarf and now the number is four with the fifth one on the needles.                                                Chugging right along.  Almost there but not quite.               ...

It is wonderful to experience a great night of rest resulting in energy for the next day.  Yesterday was a drainer.  I forgot how much energy it takes to change cars.  Big decisions are not easy.  But the deed is done!  It's a fun car with lots of stuff on it.  This morning all the usual happened.  Since it was fill the pill box day I needed to get calcium, so I was off to the drugstore rather early.  And the scene as I was leaving the house looked like this.   What I couldn't catch on the photo was the ice on the trees that made them look like glass.  It was so magical.  A super view to start the day.   So the pills found their place for two weeks again.  Later in the day Kisqali came by FedEx.  That's the March supply of medication for cancer.  I'm beginning to think that I fell through the cracks for the first six months of this treatment.  I'm getting phone calls now and automatic deliver...

Thursday This will be a short entry tonight.  So here is the story.  A couple of weeks ago the gas door on the car would not open.  It one doesn't feed the car gas it doesn't go as you all know.  Doug took the car to the Honda shop, and they opened it but it needed to have a part ordered to fix it.  So today Doug took the car back and it was fix.  That was Doug's gig in the morning. His story gets longer in a minute. As some of you know, I finished the second scarf last night with the thought in mind to finish the third one today.  Well, that didn't happen.  I did start one and knitted all morning with just about half of it finished doing that while Doug was gone.  The afternoon had its own story to write.  Doug came home at noon and had the news that he had been talking to Tom who has helped us with our car leases over the years.  And there was a deal in the works if I was interested.  Well, I wasn't but Doug kept talkin...

I woke up to what I knew would be a busy day.  And I proved to myself that was the case.  And the best part is that I lived to tell you all about it.  All the home morning stuff with a dish for the B Birds full to the top happened.  The I left a note for Doug about my schedule. If he needed me he could call.  It looked like I would be gone until at least 3.  And it was almost 4 in reality.  A long busy interesting day most like none other. So, the first stop was to see my Primary Doctor for a follow-up.  And she did.  I gave her an up-to-date doctors report from my perspective.   Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday doctor visits were good.  Then it was off to church. The second job was to attack the ATTIC.  That's the room over Pastor Darren's office that was the first storage home for visuals at North.  It's had other cleaning days over the years, but this one was one of the bigger ones.  I brought in the big...

The goal for today was to complete one scarf with yarn of many colors.  So, the morning was knitting and sitting and knitting.  I started this scarf last night but with little needles it takes a bit of time to get to the end.  I call the process amusement one.                                                                                           From this...to Now for amusement two with a Starling deterrent report. It seems to be working but there was some adjusting that needed to happen.  I brought everything inside and did some hemming and hawing.  Rehung everything outside again and waited.  I think there are some Starlings that are trying to figure out an approach that will work ...

Monday

It was a good Monday beginning middle and end.  How fortunate.  Not all people can say that.  I checked the birds as usual and made a grand filling to all of the feeders.  The B Birds were everywhere.  How beautiful.  I would like to add some of the birds from Kenya with long tails.  How beautiful.  But perhaps they should stay there knowing what the sparrows from England have done to us.   I started another knitting piece, checked the E-mail and will be making some neck scarves for ladies that work at the monastery.  I need takers.                                 A couple of the ladies are from Mexico and I think they will like these colors.  I made my expected trip to IU North and the EKG said all is well, all is well.  Then it was a quick trip to JoAnne's to get some yarn for the ladies and then on to a close by Goo...
