This morning it was spending some time with Eric again and then a stop at Krogers for some  Worcestershire sauce.  I think the last bottle was the first bottle I bought YEARS ago.  I mean years.  What else does one need Worcestershire sauce for except Chex Mix.  So Chex Mix was on the list of things to do first thing this morning.  Doug noticed.  Well, his nose gave him a clue.           A pricy ground cloves bottle jumped in the cart with a jar of molasses.  I'm thinking of cookies soon.   I added bean soup to the to-do list having it for supper and taking some to R and B. I added a bag of Chex Mix!  Today was more sewing of course. .  I will admit that sewing takes my mind away from all that's happening outside.  And to say it is exciting outside would make you think I was going crazy.  It's just a boring spot to be exploring nowadays.  Better days are coming.           Now isn't this just wonderful eye candy.  A friend is house-sitting and she texted me this picture

There was nothing unusual about the start of the day.  The same old same old on just about everything.  I was at the sewing machine at 6:15.  That was a little unusual.  I wanted to finish up the last of the fabric and with another early hitch after taking Eric to Nora I finished ALL the sewing around 9:30.  All of the fabric was changed into something not called a sheet.   It was time to start exploring Goodwills.  But I needed gas so back to Nora for a gas fill up.  Then a little stop to see what was new at the Nora Goodwill.  And they had new.  I found 5 sheets.  Two twins and 3 Kings each for 3:99.  And that was the end of shopping.  Was I happy or was I not?  I wasn't quite sure.  Really happy with the bargains.  All 3.99 each.  But the morning fun was cut short.  I wan't going to buy any more so why spend the gas?  I had no good reason to move to another store.                                                                                  A nice collection of new stuff

MONDAY

Image
Such a pretty combination of stuff all on the same plant.  In all caps.  I have nothing to yell about if that's what caps mean.  Easy slow Monday and of course I was with the machine all day.  I was going to shop for fabric but decided that I should use up what I had for today.  And it's about all gone.  I was saving a piece but it's all cut up now.   A twin sheet makes 5 cover-ups.  A queen sheet makes 8 cover-ups and a king makes 12.  In the works today...a queen among a few others already for sewing.  I hope I can remember all of the above.  The problem is that hunting for the size tag is sometimes impossible to find.   Today twelve were added to the stash.  Seven more are ready for sewing.  When all the pieces are ready for action it doesn't take very long to have another cover-up.  I fed the birds this morning.  Hummmm.  I hung the suet and once again there was little action all day long.  There's a big question abou

It was so nice to see a splash of color coming from the flowers this morning.                                                                   I would say the winter doldrums were forgotten for a while.   The morning got off to a very early start.  Should we say 2 am?  Yes, another one of those nights that comes around every now and then.  So I was up early watching a little TV among other things.  We were off to church early and this time the youth had Sunday School which we filled with about 20 minutes of putting Xmas away.  Woo...I love those young legs that decided Fireman style is a great way to put ALL the stuff we got out this year back in the attic.  They filled the rest of the morning with SS.  Nativities are at rest for another 11 months.  Roping baskets, bows and stuff at rest.  The two eight foot tables that were loaded to the max have been stored away and all the other stuff has found their home again. It's such a load off my mind when

Saturday.

Well, you all know what happened to Saturday.  I forgot.  So here goes a post.  Yesterday morning was extremely busy.  I worked as fast as I could along with the other Bread and Bowl soup kitchen workers.  There were 4 of us preparing and then two more drifted in right at the end of the preparation time.  We were happy to see them even though I called them drifters!   We never know who's coming to dinner and yesterday a huge surprise.  We had 45 walk in folks.  We opened at 11 and were out of food by 11:25.  No carry outs and no eat in food.  Woo, the place was stuffed with food.  We cleaned up the kitchen early and there were folks talking around the table at 12.  I guess they like the company.   We prepared the space for the book fair today.  Bring a book, take a book.  Don't bring a book, please take lots of books.  It's book Sunday for sure.   I dropped off more cover-ups on the way home and that I think is 80 so far.  The rest of the day was pretty easy.working on mor

Another great work day.  Wordle yes, connections NO!  I started the day a little slow but it did pick up.  I looked up the cover-up site online and decided that there was a problem with what I was doing.  It would have been great if I could have seen a ready-made example.  But I didn't have one and the feedback that I had asked for didn't come.  The work isn't a complete flop but the next cover-ups will be corrected.  I orientated the cover-up with the 28-inch edge as the top and not the 36-inch.  The 36-inch edge should have been the top..  It is certainly an easy change but darn...I wish I had caught on before 80 cover-ups were sent on their way.                 Tis the brown season.  Our Georgia pine needles seem to be in good shape.  Memories!  I was a bit miffed when I made the cover-up discoverIy so I decided it was burp time.  I added 10 more to the stash and 30 more will get me to 500 for the year 23 and 24.  I'm in no hurry knowing that I've provided a hea

I took now pictures so today we're visiting the Michigan family. A day just about like any other day this week.  Breakfast.  but I skipped wordel and connections.  I did look at connections and said it was hopeless.  Some are like that.  I succeeded with wordle later in the day.                                                                   Eli is alert and ready for the soccer ball. So what happened today.  Not much but I did sew.  I did some parts and finished 6 more cover-ups.  Another 20 are ready to go to Ginny on Sunday and the next 20 has a good start.                                                     Fanny Hoe Creek with the Fanny Hoe Lake in the distance.   Today was the day to meet with the Muldoon Ladies.  About 40 years ago we taught first grade at Forest Dale Elementary.  And we get together just about every month.  There is always something to talk about and having a good meal together is always a plus.  Today we met at Bru Burgers here in Carmel.  They have a w

Today's goal was to work on some of the 12 cover-ups.  And today the sewing machine was in a snit.  I declare that sometimes the devil is living in the machine.  The tension for the bobbin thread was out of wack.  So I rethreaded the machine more than once.  No good response.  So letting it all sit for a while the decision was to take the machine to the machine doctor.   How lucky have I been all these years with the machine fixit man just south on Keystone at 73rd Street just about 4 miles away.  So into the car with the beast and south to 73rd street.  Another good session and conversation reminders on how to do a couple of things that I had forgotten.  I scheduled a complete check and the first date available is in May. The last checkover was years ago.  Taking care of my friend is important.  I call my Pfaff my mental health buddy. These repair guys are just the best.                                          All the parts are finished.  Tomorrow I'll see these 12 completed

It's just one of those days!  Nothing new happened today.  It was just one of those days.  Got up.  Ate breakfast. Played with fabric doing a whole lot of ripping.  It's easier to rip when working with a whole lot of big fabric.  It will be a two-day job with more ripping tomorrow.  I did a little sewing of straps and D-ring strips.  The solution that one wants is the most cover-ups out of a piece of fabric with the least amount of fabric left over. I worked on three sheets today.                I did manage to make another batch of Chex Mix for Doug.  We'll see how long this lasts.  Today one piece of fabric produced 12 cover-ups.  It was a Dovet.  I think that word is French and I don't have a clue about spelling. The spell check seems to think I have it spelled correctly.   I paid 3.99 for that piece of fabric.  Twin sheeds give me 5 Cover-ups.                                                                         Same song but a new verse. Jared called today with

Another memory.  When I can I fill my mind with things to come.   The day started with breakfast of course and then an Eric commute which led to the drugstore after dropping him at the bus stop.  Something for this allergic reaction to something.  And it worked.  It was a relatively sneeze-free day until this evening.  More about to come.                                                                             A butterfly bush flower.   I did some burps with the fabric that was giving me fits but not after it was washed.  I read about gassing off fabric online.  It seems that airing in hot wind and then washing is considered a probable solution.  We can wash but there is not a whole lot of hot air blowing around.  I'm tempted to bring in a large fan from the garage.  I thinned out and transplanted most of the daylily patches last summer..  We'll see if more flowers appear.  They certainly were a bit sparse with crowding last summer.  Thes

We started out rather early this morning for church.  Not as early as when we were on the hospitality team.  That was around 6:50.  Today it was 8:50.  I was hoping for movement to the attic with all the Christmas things.  Not to be when I got to church.  Once again Sunday School was canceled.   No heat in the education building at this point.  Still waiting for the repair parts.  So with no kids, there was no movement of stuff.  It takes a village.                                                                              A backyard memory on the picnic table. . So with that extra time I was able to do some things in the sacristy.  That meant moving stuff for a more efficient storage placement of a few things and with the hope that what needs to disappear will do just that. Church folks hate to throw things away.  Someone might need it.  I guess I'm not a church person. Or perhaps the space needed is more important that storing things that no one wants.

Saturday.

I would say today was a rather simple day of staying home and away from the cold temperatures.  I used my lazy side and left Doug to get in the paper.  It was a two-free-range egg breakfast.  The morning was spent in the sewing room finishing up things that had been started other days.   I finished three cover-ups and then did 10 burps determined to end up with 50 burps to show for the morning work.  I emerged from the sweat shot at 1 PM with 10 added.  I worked on a few more cover-ups in the afternoon.                                                                  It was a mishmash of fabrics used for burps.  My first 100 D rings were completely gone and this afternoon a resupply arrived via Amazon.  This time the number of D rings is 150 which will keep me busy for a while. .  GPS says that our address belongs to our neighbors' house.  Their street is Holaday Dr. and their house number is nothing like ours but just about every delivery ends up at their front door.  I found the

Another bitter temperature with 2 inches of very fluffy snow.  There's a wind factor being added. The outside hurts.                                                          It still looks like Christmas at this house.                                                                                                      Maybe time away from the sewing machine would make a difference.     I took Eric to Nora and on the way the "time to change the oil' message came on the dashboard.  So after Eric left me, I was on the way to Penske Honda. The message in my head was "Get it over with".  I thought they would not be very busy this morning and that certainly was the case.  So 45 minutes later I was back on the road after a tire switch and an oil change.  Then to the gas station to get a fill-up.  Better to have a full tank when the weather continues its brutal temperature. Home by 8:45 with Doug just appearing with the clothes on the way to the washing machine.  A very
