Monday...one big thing.

Image
The day usually has a little of this and a little of that and maybe it not such a little thing but one big thing.  Today I would say it was one big thing and no little things.                                                                                        Girl bibs Today was another one big sewing day So far there are 5 little girl bibs waiting for buttons and button holes but are finished with the sewing part. Today I added eight little boy bibs now waiting for buttons and button holes.  I believe in holes and buttons.  I've had heard stories of little folks a bit miffed because there was no velcro on their bibs that would allow them to decide to pull their clothes protector off when they wished.  But I also have heard that the mothers of these children appreciate a chance to button the bib to their child.  I'll keep on with buttons. One little girl told her grandmother she was not happy with the grandma that made her bib.  Yikes!

Sunday.

Woo...another sleep in till almost 7.  I'll take it.  Breakfast and a slow morning made getting ready for church easy.   Today's service was a gift from the women of the church.  A message from Amy.  She talked a lot about walking and quoted Micah, Walk humbly with your God.   Two musical offerings from the women of the choir. The first was an answer to the opening prayer.  Day by day, dear Lord, of thee three things I pray. To see thee more clearly, love thee more dearly, follow thee more nearly, day by day. Ushering was done by women as well as the greeters who welcome others to church.  It was a worshipful morning.  The choir ladies also sang All things bright and beautiful...etc.  arranged by Wilberg who directs the Morman Tab. Choir.  He also writes a whole lot of great arrangements and accompaniments for church music. His interpretations are wonderful.    I could hear the words to the song transported through the strings on the piano.  I heard birds, knew the sun was shi

Saturday, the sixth day of the work week!

I added another work day to the week as you can see.  More about that in a bit.  It was another early morning with all the usual.  I finished the crossword and wordle and all the morning stuff allowing me to leave for Bread and Bowl at my usual 8:30 time.   It was a busy morning again with plenty of good workers that took away a whole lot of get-ready pressure.  It's wonderful to have time to just sit and visit with each other.  That happened and one of the topics was Methodists in India.  I learned a whole lot.  It was time well spent.  Yes, Suneil and Lois were there.  Saturdays have been not so busy and we've reduced the order of food by one pan now getting 4 from Second Helpings.  The crowd was bigger for today but another one of those miracles happened with the last plate of food taken by the last visitor near 12 o'clock.  The carry-outs were ALL carried out.  Another great happening meaning that we threw away NO food.   I headed home and true to many B and B Saturday

End of the work week Friday.

Same old same old this morning.  Nothing new, everything old.  Same old crossword and wordle routine, breakfast, bird feeding.  Just the same old.   I learned a long time ago that retired people still work.  They just can choose when to do that and what to do and how long to do it.  Pay So the latest projects have kept me busy.  Some folks would say that's work but I will add the word fun.  It's fun to take something that is nothing.  Change the form and wallah, it's something. So the morning was filled with the sewing machine motor noise again and the baby blanks are moving closer to the finish line.  I' worked on a bib but the one pictured will need a little change in construction.  That's the next thing on the to do list after the blankets are finished although I did sneak one in just for a try.   =                                                                            A few adjustments coming.  Tulip and Daisy are looking very healthy.  There could be a cha

Decision Thursday.

Nothing different about the morning routine.  Same old, same old.  Crossword finished, Wordle finished, Oatmeal finished.  Everything was finished and because the quilt tops were finished it was time to think about the baby quilt finishing process and all that goes with that.                     T his is a picture from a couple of years ago.  Monarchs were slim to nothing last year.                                                                                  I hope we see more this summer.   When I checked JoAnn's online it seemed to suggest that there was a fleece sale!  I made a decision to go look and get enough fleece for two quilt tops.  My goodness, the three-day sale is a great one with more than half off the fleece price. The regular price is 14.99 a yard.  You know, I'd rather do without than pay that price.  It's ridiculous.  So instead of two tops, I got enough for all seven.  Saved a bunch of money but also spent a bunch even at more than half off.  Some ba

Fun Wednesday.

It was a snowy day.  I think Winny the Pooh started a story that way.  Right?  Well, it was a snowy day all day but rather a sleeper I would say.  No wind, no low temperatures.  Just a heavy soggy day of snow that was really full of water.  Lots of water and the best for a snowball fight.  Sorry to say everyone stayed in their house.   Did the crossword, drank coffee, and forgot all about wordle till evening.  The crossword was just a little stinky and I got it finished by hook and by crook.                                                                                        Dreaming again I started on the quilts again finishing one before lunch and then finishing two more in the afternoon.  They ALL are finished.  That is the top only.  Now it's do the rest of the stuff at some point soon.                                                                           S even...you can count them.    I must say the snow coming down was beautiful.  It was sort of the lake effect type w

I love the beginning of the week.  I think it's a head thing.  I look forward to a lot of days of a little of this and that of my choosing..  As the weekend nears I'm feeling a bit squashed together.  I think it's all in my head.                                                     How about a good memory before the blizzard hits tonight! This morning the Wordle was a breeze and the Crossword was a stinker. The answers were a bit off-center from my point of view.  There were a few empty blocks with a whole lot of erasing.  In my mind, it wasn't worth the fussing. I quit.                One of three small lakes at the Georgia monastery.   Two very quiet for the moment geese taking                               a swim. Now wouldn't this picture make a great puzzle?  Another family memory. I completed another top which now makes a  total of 4.  And as promised I was off to JoAnn's again gathering the last purchase of the green, blue and black fabric.  It should be

Left over Monday.

Yes...these are the leftovers from our GREAT SUNDAY SNOW. There could be more this week! Bring it on.                                                                          (He)           It is coming soon. Another song!                                              Once again did the Wordle and crossword.  Drank the coffee and ate the oatmeal this time adding walnuts and raisins.  Yum, yum.  The birds needed some sunflower seed after washing one of the feeders.  It was nasty.  Hot water thawed the bird bath.  There are very few birds around and the squirrel hasn't been seen for a couple of days.   I thought it was time for a good pot of beef stew so that all got put together.  It smells so good and even looks and tastes better.  Back to sewing with the last squares nearing the finish line.  Then it's decision time for what goes on the inside.  Sorry to say I didn't make it to the line.  Just a little too much happening and I ran out of time.  I need fabric for the border

Sunday.

A slow and easy start to a new week.  Sunday is the marker.  I'm an early riser no matter what day and Doug is the opposite.  That offers me a quiet morning start by myself that I have learned to like immensely.  It's time by myself with not a whole lot of serious thinking.  The snow seemed to enhance the quiet softness of the morning.  It looked like marshmallow topping on the trees.                                                         It's a marshmallow world.  Remember that song? I matched fabric squares for sewing after church. Worked the Wordle, had coffee and oatmeal, and got the birds taken care of.  The big pinwheel block sewing will happen tomorrow. There will be more quilts.                                              Pinwheel design. The baby quilt needs 12 of these patches. We were off to church around 10:20. Talked to a few friends before church and then found our pew seat again among other friends.  The service was well planned with a few minor changes th

You know what a five-inch square of fabric looks like so today's pictures are a little of this and that.  Here is Eli's cat Basel being a bad kitty, named after Father Basel at the Jam Pot.  This kitty has a beard just like Father Basel. Well, sort of like.  He too small to get on the table by himself!  Eli is a huge cat (animal) lover unlike his dad but just like his mother.  Jared has said no cats in the house.  Well, how is that working?                                                         I really was thinking molasses cookies! Today was one of those feel-good stay-at-home days.  Keep it simple.  So I stayed at home keeping it simple.  All the usual home stuff.  Feed the birds, do the crossword and wordle.  Crossword was good but Wordle was not so good. There was a little cutting and sewing. It's another gray day with no snow in sight. Winter in Indiana?  Strange.  Body report.  All is pretty much back to normal or moving in the right direction.  Woo.  Makes me happy

A great morning start with Wordle in three and that was before 6 AM.  Then a little later the Star crossword had a good outcome also.  So off to an excellent start for the day.   The shoulder report is that it's screaming bloody murder.  Overuse is abuse!  So it's pill time which seems to calm things down.  I did a tiny bit of cutting and finished another top.  I think they really are happy crib quilts thanks to a whole lot of bright colors.  This time it's a green border. I'm working that 3 1/2  inch stack of 5 inch squares down to no squares. The morning was a take it easy time.  More sewing happened in the evening.  It's keeping my fingers in the fabric so I'll take it.  Our minister's wife Jenny works with new mothers in the Goodwill program. I'm thinking these quilts could find a home there.   I've been having some digestive upsets so this afternoon I emptied the refrigerator of a whole lot of food.  I told Doug I think the culprit has been som
