Saturday

It was a very quiet morning with not much happening.  Just the usual with breakfast, birds and finishing another scarf.  That sort of was all of it.   Late morning and the rest of the day was a bit different.  I decided there were plenty of scarves in the basket.  That made it a burp day.  And I stuck to it finishing the twenty that were in process.                  30 dot burps finished with a new stack waiting for the sewing machine, TOMORROW. I  pulled out another cute sheet ripping it into strips for more burps and doing the same with white flannel.  I'll need to do more flannel since the sheet was large and produced enough strips for 38 burps.  That's a whole lot of burps from one sheet.  I wonder if I counted correctly.                Aren't these cute.  I think the figures are from nickelodeon.  At least that's ...

Friday

Image
One of many Fridays added to my life.  I am grateful.  This morning happened sort of early, but I decided to stay in bed where it was warmer. Just a super excuse for that decision.  Then it was time to meet the day which started with breakfast and receiving a Jared text with a minus 10 Michigan report. I was on my way to I U North at 7:30 for the regular monthly infusion visit with a zero report on temperature.   It's always great to visit with such positive folks at the front desk, then Eric who works at the second-floor desk and the nurses who prepare the infusion and administer it. So many kind thoughtful folks.                                                A harbinger of things to come with barely a touch of pink. Then out the door around nine knowing that the Goodwill stores would be open....

A good reminder I read every day that tells me to keep my mind in a healthy place. Today never got out of slow gear. The car did not leave with me in the front seat.  It was a good home day for a change.  One I needed more than I realized.  So, it was a gift I didn't know was going to be a gift.             Not this year but a great reminder of a couple of years ago.  I did this all by myself!  Fun, fun. There was a good sleep with a good breakfast with more quiet time before Doug appeared.  I'll add, he is never noisy, so I guess quiet continued even after he was up.  I left him retrieve the paper and then picked up the knitting for a few minutes.  I'll do the same this evening with the hope another scarf goes in the finished basket.  If it doesn't happen...no harm done.  Today was burp day.  No...

Wednesday

I was going to do zinnias yesterday but got distracted when I saw that azalea flower.  A whole plant full of those beautiful flowers were sent to me from my nephew Mark when I had my first surgery. For today, there were no biggies or smallies.  Just a winter day with cold and wind and the usual. I finished another scarf in the afternoon.  And I might start another tonight. But then again maybe not.  I did no special cooking. The chicken soup I made Monday is maybe the best ever.  And there will be a couple of meals to go yet.  I spent some time at the Y again today.  Something makes me think I spent too much time at the Y.  It was the same old tread and Nu.  The same as other days with one exception.  It was a little less time on the tread and a whole lot more on the Nu.  Maybe too much time.  I was washed out with sugar numbers lower than appropriate.  So, there was a good protein drink as soon as I walked in the door wit...

Today was an OK day. That means all was good, all was very good.  There were no berry seeds under my dental plate.  My mouth is full of my own teeth so no plate!!!!.   \I set the alarm giving me the assurance that I would not miss my appointment. It would seem I wanted to wake up an hour earlier than the alarm. So, I pulled myself out of bed.  There was a lot of time for breakfast, and I was on the road at 7:10 on my way to the blood sucking house also known as IU North.  I made my donation and then headed east to meet my PT friends.  After a half hour of work, it was decided that I needed to sign up for 4 more sessions. Sorry to say I flunked some things.  I'm still tippy even first thing in the morning.  The sessions will be the four Fridays at 9 am in February.   Then back home with no stops anywhere else.  That was nicer than I thought.  I got caught up on the news which seemed to be much the same as last night. T...

Today had some rough edges and some smooth ones as well.  Thank God for the smooth edges.  I hate the rough ones. I had a wonderful night of sleep.  Woo.  Blessings on what ever made that happen.  Most of the morning was cozy and warm with the needles starting on another scarf with white yarn thinking I had enough.  Well, I didn't so the scarf turned red and white after I was halfway to the end.  It's an I U scarf now looking pretty good.  Not quite finished yet but another half hour will see me adding it to the finished basket.   What really started to bug me was the fact every month like today I would be at I U North for a blood draw at 7:30 am. By 11:00 for sure I knew know the recovery rate of my White and Red Blood Cells. If the report was good, I could go back on my cancer med. immediately All of that flew out the window on to a big snow drift this morning.                   ...

Sunday

It was a blustery day as Winnie the Poo would say.  The night was a bit broken up with now and then a look out the window.  How far under the snow were we? Morning said we were under a lot with the promise there would be more coming our way.                                                                       Brr.  Have you no mercy?  So, it was the same old breakfast with a lot of station switching to hear what TV folks had to say about the weather.  There was nothing new to digest.  The old? Cold, Snow, Wind and the same thing all over again. I was happy ice didn't occur.  I imagine my southern family members in Tenn. Georgia and Texas did not dodge the ice.                     ...

Today was another soup kitchen day for me.  I was a little late leaving home but we managed to get everything completed once again before the doors opened at 11.00.  We had a great crew with everyone present to provide food again to our visitors.  No absences.  No tardies.  Just super good workers.  Such good workers that I left a little after 11 just after the doors were open.  I need to do that more often.                                                                             Such a wonderful group of friends.  Sarah Ellen and I called our church buddy Linda of long ago who now lives in St. Paul, Minn.  just to chat and assure her that she has been with us though these days of turmoil.  Since her ne...

would say this was an OK day.  I was a tired girl last night falling asleep after supper with a wake up from Doug and then doing it all over again.  Back in bed at my usual 10 pm and then slept all night with no wake ups till 5:30.  I call that a really good night of restoration.   Today I took it pretty easy with one exception.  I count that a good day.  More later.  The morning was nothing new as you can see by the picture.  All the good stuff was within arms-reach while working on a guess what?  Of course scarf.   My Stanley keeps my coffee hot until I decide to pour coffee into my Kimmy tumbles.  Glasses waiting right beside more knitting.   Kat posted on face book that a good snowstorm was coming and all she needed was more yarn to take care of the weekend. And I think she proved that by the picture in H L.  I would say the big 4 now seems to be eggs, bread and milk with an added yarn. That would take c...

We've eaten supper already and Doug is doing another uber run, the first of the week for Eric.  I'm tired and staying home to do the blog which is enough for now.                                                              A favorite color in the garden.  Today was a little different.  It started the same way with all the beginning stuff.  But then I listened and watched the Jack Smith event.  Those hearings are rough and I know that before one ever starts.  Todays was the same.  One thing I can say...the knitting needles flew completing another scarf in record time. I poured another protein drink for the afternoon.  And the new Greek Yogurt was really yummy.  I added some of that to my lunch.   One other thing was an irritant in another way....

This jade plant was gifted to me from neighbor Kathy on my birthday two years ago.  It was one of many succulents in this pot.  Now it's the only plant that is taking up most of the room once occupied by many succulents.  They are living in other places.    Another midweek day with a surprise visit by the Big Blues.  Usually, a Monday holiday will give us a Thursday visit.  Well, not today.  Doug collected everything yesterday forgetting about the holiday.  But when he heard the trucks this morning it was a quick run to the street with the B Blues to meet the B Blues.  That got the day going pretty fast                                                                                    ...

Of course, we must start with Monday evening and the win.  The BIG TIME WIN!  The only one in my lifetime is one way to remember the event.  And if you guessed the I U Football Championship game...you are right. This teacher will give you an A+. What fun to be experiencing JOY in this case. It was an evening of pure exuberance hearing from friends vacationing in California with an earthquake happening in the middle of the game maybe IU caused, camping friends in Sterling, Mi and family members.   This morning, I turned on the sports TV station and relived last night again.  Another few hours of living with Monday's sweet memories.  It feels good to have positive vibes for a happening even if it's football. The kids gifted us with a positive Indiana experience. We'll make it last as long as we can. Another happening for me later this morning was another balance PT drill.  Sessions have been pretty easy so far, but today's assignments just didn't go...

More Memories.  How could I forget. Today was a knitting day.  The TV was on good music.  NO Greenland, Denmark, Venezuela, Minnesota Sex Scandal, Putin or Trump., just music and needles.  I bought some yarn a few months ago that I really didn't like.  It was slippery to handle.  Today I decided to try knitting that yarn again.  It really wasn't as bad as I had remembered. A couple of more hours and I can put another scarf in the finished basket.   Another "amusement" was watching the birds.  It really wasn't very amusing most of the time, maybe maddening. Starlings and B. Birds both wanting to eat meal worms and me trying to outdo the Starlings.  IMPOSSIBLE.  I'm l...

A yesterday picture.  I think they were off finding a place to keep warm today.   Another church day.  I was awake to greet it in the middle of the night.  Why?  I don't know the answer but I know it was a very short night which made the morning come very early.  Must be getting old...you think?  I heard once that old people don't sleep.  Should I believe that?                                         By gone days with the hope of returning soon but never soon enough. Since the morning started in the middle of the night, there was a lot of time to knit even though we left for church an hour earlier.  This morning was the designated time to move Christmas to the attic during the Sunday School hour...
